You shouldn’t be gating people behind a WoW Token to have a house. The mounts make sense to cost a lot, BoE epics make sense costing a lot. They aren’t necessary. Neither is housing, but it is very quickly going to become a cornerstone of gameplay for casuals and collectors. You should be able to buy a house in about 1 week of gameplay after hitting max level. If you want more people to participate, understand a lot of people that play this game can’t/shouldn’t buy a WoW Token. I tried to explain this an xpac ago about the rising prices on consumables. You do not want a core gameplay loop locked behind a secondary purchase. I still don’t buy Augment Runes, but I digress: prices in this game are very high for your semi-hardcore players, please do not gate us even further behind the pack with housing now costing over 100k. I used to buy a WoW Token every season at least, now I can supplement it with gathering instead. I would like to be able to buy a house or two as soon as it drops.
Really hope the cost of housing is at least the gold cap.
Houses are going to cost gold? Is this confirmed? If so, where?
Do people struggle with gold these days?
If you can’t make 10,000g in 30-45 minutes, I don’t know what to say. Like, get on a miner/herber and do loops around the ringing deeps.
"
No,
World of Warcraft housing will not have an exorbitant gold cost, as Blizzard has emphasized that it will be available to everyone and will not require high costs, lotteries, or prohibitive prices. While a cost is not specified, it is expected to be low to negligible, focusing on earned in-game rewards rather than a major gold sink."
I’m pretty sure they’ve already said it will cost gold to purchase available plots, that you can give up a plot and it goes back up for sale, and that moving a house from one plot to another will cost gold as well.
This implies they will have a gold cost, just not one that Blizzard deems “exorbitant,” whatever their definition of that is.
yea lol the 200 herbs i gather in 30-45 minutes are totally gonna sell for 10000 gold…
Me either. My warbank has 1.6 mil and I’m a solo casual player who doesn’t even attempt to make gold
It would be interesting to see what I’d be at if I actually tried to make gold at least once
I am betting its going to be far far less than, say, the new warbank slots.
I’d like to hope so but I doubt Blizzard considers those costs exorbitant either.
I thought AI was supposed to do that.
How can I be immersed in the homeowning experience if I can’t even be threatened with crippling debt.
They aren’t. What are you on about?
It would be cooler if they did gate it.
It won’t really be housing without property taxes, flood insurance, and government stipends for having solar panels.
Takes me 20 mins to make the cost of a WoW token and I would rather not spend the time in game farming or whatever… So TBH I would likely just buy a token if I needed the gold, which I don’t.
That said WoW is one of the more affordable MMOs to play on the market and if it was not I would not play it because there are other good MMOs out there that have aggressive monetization so I won’t play them on principle.
I bet the Goblin cartels will find some way to cram an inconvenience fee into it.
Pick one, or the other.
Pokemon Go is probably more expensive than some MMOs.
They do.
If you’ve put points into mining and herbing, you can get enough rank 2-3 materials to have more than 10,000 gold for 30-45 minutes of farming.
I do it constantly.
The goblin cartels are the ones that are going to sue you when someone’s kid hurts themselves by trespassing and jumping on your trampoline.
Attractive nuisance is also a requirement for it to feel like a real housing experience.
