Housing Previews and Interviews live!

Yep. I tend to fish waiting for pops. Quieter ponds are better, imo. the goal is to not see people. people tend to take “your” fish are here circles lol.

How many servers are like that though…a couple … a hundred? my realm is pretty much a 50 to 50 range most times…and most realms are CRZ’d too now…not all but about all of them are…

-Logs in to FF14
-Game with player housing
-Sees an ocean of people in Limsa Lominsa

Wow, what a freaking ghost town, dead game, hope it doesn’t die out.

Transmog does nothing for your DPS and/or healing, yet you do it.

And hey, they put pokemon in WoW, but it doesn’t help Mythic Raiding, I’m sure you hate that too…

What about the the kind of player who starts up a guild and kicks everyoneout to have it all to themselves? Would they get a neighborhood all to themselves too?

Says the person transmogging…

Well I have 5 private guilds myself…so I guess I can have 5 private Neighborhoods to myself too…

Oh shush up, would you?

I’m assuming public neighborhoods will be CRZ.

No idea.

I’d suggest a neighborhood has to have at least five independent Bnet accounts to make a private one.

For some to flex their rare mounts and mogs, they need people in cities to be in awe of that flex.

Assuming they care. I run/fly by not noticing this really. I never cared about this in retail. and classic didn’t help worship the flex either. In TBCC I dropped many gdkp buyers in glaives since they died so fast it was clear they weren’t a dude who fought to get that raid spot lol.

As distinct from going afk in a city.

Dear Forum designers: please bring back the downvote. Ta, me.

I’d like a PKXD sign out front for people who could visit my home when I might not be there or even an open house.

Remember that Waking Shores Inn? How about a guestbook where people could choose from a selection of responses. And the name of the person signing. Or I suppose anonymous too

Still nervous about the neighborhood, because at least in FFXIV which it seems heavily modeled off, they result in ghost towns and take away your opportunity to just be in more cool places (like ESO-akin systems can achieve, especially if phased). At least for the majority of our wards, it’s a sea of dead houses (with specific wards that are active due to very intentional choices by those players).

Particularly added concern what the neighborhood content progression would be, if it feels like you are basically put into a static where if you miss events you hold your group back. They want you to move out, or your ward has slowly died. You have to hunt for new groups. Can’t take a break without feeling guitly. Etc. Feels very not vib’ing with casual / low stress and is more like a painful HOA vibe (like the example in the video where if everyone puts the decoration up you get a cool reward, well what do you do if someone, or you, didn’t do that…? You just ruined or had ruined an opportunity- this can be very very problematic).

I’ve only watched one video so far, but it appears there are fixed slots? Did anyone identify if it’ll be sharded/instanced per slot (so many people exist on one slot or is it literally wards and slots like FFXIV). My other major concern, because it means certain slots will be priority (key locations that look the best), and also more importantly makes for difficult choices when dealing with clans and friends. Like your clan not letting you have a house in the clan ward, or kicking you out, because the clan masters GF wants it lol.

All of this gets combined into a soup of problems, dead sections of the ward with half effort of the community, your clan is full and you can’t get in, your friend is in another clan ward, you’re in the worst location of the zone, Blizzard didn’t add your race’s exterior biome and so you’re not represented and Blizzard can’t spin up entirely new wards as they’re huge very easily*, etc, etc. *Unlike ESO type systems where you can sometimes literally use pre-existing spaces and you have a much smaller footprint to account for.

Blizzard could potentially have fixed all this but at least in FFXIV I find the ward (neighborhood) system very annoying with minimal benefits :frowning: . I’ll admit when you get focused, dedicated, intentionally minded people together they can do cool stuff, but that’s where you make that the “exception” and not the rule.

The decorations and tools to decorate look incredible. Love all the interacting items and hope they keep that up. Perhaps smart collector items too, like the bookshelf just auto-imports your books. Trophy case could auto pull your achievements (if they’re associated to a trophy).

Player kits might be a other neat feature / thing to add. Where players can build a combination of items and turn it into a code (like talents) and share, but also potentially Blizzard will have some pre-fab options to help kick start stuff.

They said that power like toys is fine but trying to avoid other things, and I think as a start maybe that’s good, but I’d actually like some utilities to housing- just keep them optional / non-end game. Although there are a lot of great toys, which is a good start, and perhaps can be done later if the housing feature is good. I certainly can see that binding any sort of end-game progression is just a bad move, but beyond that I kind of like “useful” structures.

In terms of AFKing at the house, if they allowed players to have a two way hearthstone it may help with that. Cast it when in the neighborhood to return to where you cast it from.

Speak for yourself.

Most wards are dead because, and this will happen in WoW too, there is only so much you can do with a house. Singular houses without a neighborhood are the same way, you can’t see that no one is in them lol. The private neighborhoods will probably be a little more lively but that also heavily depends on the guild activity.

I’ve been designing and redesigning my Strongholds in Old Republic for over a decade.

Also: public neighborhoods are dynamic and will fill as needed, aka, CRZ.

Main thing that disturbed me was the presence of a shop link item on the furniture inventory tab. That would be the first time there has been a monetized link directly inside the game world.

I’m hoping that all the negative response that gets from all content creators (and Im sure there will be lots of downvotes on that) will make them change their minds.

Otherwise I was very impressed by what I saw.

Designing a house is about the full extent of it. People aren’t going to be sitting around their neighborhood designing their house so eventually neighborhoods will empty out. It’s only natural.

Wut? There’s a literal button in the game that takes you to the store lol.
