Title.
I would like to see the baseline foundation (or if not, it as a option) for housing be some type of neighborhood system. All of the best housing systems I’ve enjoy involved neighbors and the interactions that come with them over a completely isolated zone that feels cold and lonely.
For example Wildstar’s Housing. Which was probably thee best housing done in a MMO, however was just a cold lonely zone. I will add that At the top of housing systems period, ArchAge’s takes the cake imo.
Despite my statements; variety is the spice of life. There are a plethora of anti-socials who play; and even despite that notion, Players should be able to decide if they want the isolated “only them” housing or to be put in a more social setting; such as a Neighborhood!
I would not object to “optional neighborhoods”, but for the LONGEST time on Wyrmrest Accord, I roleplayed with my g/f at the time as a married couple who lived at and owned the little Apple orchard just south of the Deadmines exist. I prefer the solitude.

Maybe a new Guild perk? Instead of an HOA, it’s your Guild.
Wildstar sidestepped the issue by having effectively a server browser to join public plots and incentives to visit other peoples’ housing (resource nodes, buffs, minigames with cosmetic rewards, etc)
Sounds a little like Sims to me, we’d need NPCs to fill out the flavor. But, sure, why not?

The issue of housing feeling isolated? I don’t think so. And that’s with me being well aware of how the system worked. I DO thin having a list like that is nice and better than there not being one but that’s no where near as social as a neighborhood system would be.
Also I shouldn’t of stated Wildstar had the best system, it did in a way for which you could customize your plot. Full blown housing wise I loved ArcheAges the most. Again cause there were neighborhoods AND they were in the open world. I don’t think WoWs would need to be in the OW but that would be a cherry on top imo.
How would there be a HoA? You’d have full control over your own area lol
Also my suggestion comes with the option to be isolated, if that’s what a player wanted.
