My only reason to log into Retail now is to play with my house, otherwise I’m on TBC Classic.
I’ll definitely be playing WOW Forever, and I wish we could have our houses there too in some capacity.

Yes! Exactly if we are going to be in Azeroth forever it makes more sense to actually own a piece of Azeroth and have “a skin in the game” more or less to actually want to defend your lands.
But…Forever is basically the new “Classic” and adding an evergreen feature from retail kinda goes against the whole point of Classic to begin with, right?
Warcraft Forever has deviated significantly from Classic/Vanilla and it isn’t even out yet. New Zones, New Raids, New Dungeons, Last Names for Characters, Forsaken Paladins, Dwarf Shaman, 1000 new quests, and an optional new Race.
They could easily add housing in the future and not deviate from their stated goals.
For $30 USD. There we go.
Hence the term “optional” yes?
I’d say the transmog toggle is optional.
As is the new race. No one is forced to purchase any of the packs; the new race is not required to “win” anything in the game.
That is what corporations do. They sell things. A never ending quest to make more money each year. Customers have to decide whether the cost is worth it or not.
Good point, but I’ve played since Vanilla and even back then players were asking for housing. Bliz didn’t implement it then because they didn’t know how to make it work. So I think it would fit with WOW Forever. At least I’m hopeful.
This is true AND Blizz always intended for us to have housing. A bunch of the devs came from Everquest, which had player housing. They simply did not have time to implement it before initial launch and then it just got pushed to the back burner, then to the top of the stove, then behind the stove, then… well, you get the picture lol.
It would make sense for them to implement it. But it would seriously rub me the wrong way if they implemented a duplicate version of the system before removing the storage cap on retail…
I really hope they do - one thing I fail to see a lot of people mention is the fact that housing adds so much additional horizontal content its perfect for forever. Really hope they add it given they made it work in Retail; if the tech is now there it would be a huge miss not to implement it
want to see my house darksun#1647
Given that housing was supposed to exist in Vanilla (considering that giant portal in SW), I hope it comes to Forever. Please??? If this is supposed to be a forever home in Azeroth, I’d like to come home there too.
I’d probably play Forever full time if they implemented housing. Retail just doesn’t appeal to me anymore as a long term player since vanilla but I love housing. I think the community aspect of housing might actually work if it was implemented into Wow Forever. Retail just chews things up and spits them out because nobody has any reason to go slowly or interact. It was wishful thinking that housing would bring that to the whole game in retail, but I think Forever could actually bring that to housing.
My thinking as well. Fingers crossed.
Fun fact theres a gate In stormwind where they were going to have a housing instance.
Just my opinion, but I doubt very much housing will come to WoW Forever. They’re more likely to keep certain features separate in the different versions of the game so they can drive engagement to all of them.
There would be too little decor if they brought it to Forever, and they would ruin retail RP scene.
