Housing: ejecting people from exterior property -by default- is disruptive and unnecessary

I’m not saying I entirely disagree with you, but there is a certain amount of people that want to make a house and not be bothered by others. It’s just the way it is. I doubt people will be bugging people that often though, everyone is going to be so focused on making their own houses. I’ll be looking at all of the cool homes myself and hopefully getting ideas I didn’t think of.

It’s just a game, as you said, and people can play how they want, and if they want to make a home and put up their force field to keep others away because they don’t care who sees their house up close, it’s their call. No different then people who don’t care about transmog or mounts and don’t show anything off. /shrug

Just the way it is.

I do hope though that people are friendly in whatever neighborhood I end up in. I hope there is a specific neighborhood chat in your own personal neighborhood so you can chat with neighbors, unlike the ptr which was all neighborhoods together. This would help coordinate endeavors too. I’m kind of in the middle of social and anti social. I’ll happily be social if people are friendly, but as soon as they stop, seeee ya.

The defaults should definitely be exterior allowed but interior disallowed, at minimum. I also hope they didn’t go too crazy with how high on the Z axis the exterior detection extends, so that I’m not constantly bothered while flying over places.

I was leaning towards something anyway but your force field mention brought it forward even more. What about using something similar to the Eco-Domes?
They’re already translucent so you can see through them and since they’re an in game asset Blizzard can probably change it to have a collision effect, and make it blend with the neighborhoods a bit better while being distinctive enough to be a visual clue for people flying through the neighborhood. In theory it could also have an opacity scaling for those that don’t want any contact or so that someone could do a grand reveal after their initial build or for a remodel. Unfortunately we are talking about square plots so that could be an issue, otherwise you’ll get a whole lot of “What’s in the box meme’s”.

I think removing the exterior restrictions entirely is fine, as long as they still allow an owner to blacklist individuals and/or have Ignored individuals automatically blacklisted.

As others mentioned, you can still harass people pretty easily by standing on the property edge or by flying repeatedly into the property. So I don’t think the current system really matters all that much for harassment, but causes a huge amount of friction for everyone else.

I 100% agree. I even saw a lot of people, not even realize that you could change it, at all. Nothing even hints to you, about that being an option. And not everyone goes adventuring through every menu to see whats in there(I did, but thats just how I play games).

The way it is now, as said by others, felt very hostile. I couldnt even get a screen shot, or scout out location I liked, because just looking around prompted angry “GET OFF MY LAWN” messages.

I want people to see my house when completed, in ff you can set parameters on who can mess with you stuff inside and out, they even have a guest book you can sign can leave nice comments! I love the flying which ff online does not have, this will be a great thing once implemented <3

BOOM this right here so agree!!
