So just encountered this for the first time in my last dungeon. I would refresh Lifebloom and 2x rejuv on the tank and then go catform to throw up HoTW, Rip, and Rake on the boss and normally there isn’t an issue, but for whatever reason when doing it this round with a druid tank I would come out of that to find the bear had zero HoTs on him. I fully refreshed them before going in and considering it’s all of 3 globals there is no way for them to complete their full duration in that time frame. How where my HoTs falling off so quickly? Am I missing something?
Well, I don’t know what talents you were using before compared to now, but there have been some pretty significant negative changes that impact HoT uptime. For one, Germination used to also extend the length of Rejuvenation. That was removed. You also used to be able to extend your HoTs on a target every time you cast Swiftmend on that target via the Verdant Infusion talent. Verdant Infusion no longer extends the duration of HoTs.
Those two things combined, among other changes, really impacted our ability to create long-lasting HoTs on the tank that don’t require constant maintenance.
Multiple bears or only one. If it was just on one bear they might have been canceling your hots on themselves for whatever reason.
Rejuv and lifebloom are still 15 second durations ao 3 gcds they wouldn’t fall of naturally, if youre manually shredding up to 5 combo points thats enough time for them to fall off.
I suppose he could of been manually canceling for whatever crazy reason, it’s only ever happened with that one tank.
As for what I did I went cat form, used Heart of the Wild for the bleed+immediate 5 combo points, rip, and then rake and then shifted into caster form which is when I realized the HoTs where gone.
If it’s just one person I’d assume they maybe have a macro to remove certain things and accidentally pressed it at an unintended time.
They may not even realize they still have the macro if it’s a relic of an older expansion where threat on pull was giving them more issues. Or it could have been a macro from a M+ season in Legion where something like overflowing affix existed. I probably would have just asked during the run, might have helped them in the process if they were unaware.
If they were doing it on purpose and aware I’m not sure what the reason could be other than maybe they have a tendency to have threat issues on pull.
It’s almost like some spells the mobs are casting in dungeons and raids are a “Purge” on the tank. And Reactive Resin does not apply in non pvp.
