Hotfixes for Creatures in Island Expeditions

These had the chance to be interesting but you lost your chance when they were released in a buggy, unbalanced, and unfinished fashion. Nothing can save them months later, especially now that your player base has experienced them as crap.

My honest feedback: quit wasting development time on these. Sunk costs are sunk costs. Whatever happened to soon™?

I think this should really tell you something about Island Expeditions. Why should people bother doing them on higher difficulties when THEY JUST DON’T FEEL REWARDING ON ANY DIFFICULTY?

Let me reiterate - ARTIFACT POWER DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A REWARD and that’s the only thing you’re likely to get from Islands. Since BfA launch, running mostly heroic Island Expeditions, I’ve gotten a whopping three dubloons. THREE. Oh, AND NOTHING OTHER THAN DUBLOONS OR ARTIFACT POWER. And the things I would really like to get from Island Expeditions aren’t even available for dubloons, they’re random chance upon random chance. Please stop coming off as willfully ignorant when I see post after post on these forums telling you the various rewards are simply too damn rare for something that doesn’t give you any power progression in the game.

I also want to point out that Island Expeditions are essentially the same as Scenarios from MoP, and those didn’t go over well either, for the same reasons - lack of meaningful reward for time investment. Similarly, the “traits” on Azerite armor are a reintroduction of the original glyph system and suffer from all the same balancing/mechanical issues. Why is the current development team insistent on repeating past mistakes?

You know what the people in method are doing - running mythic IE all day long so this really isn’t true for all mythic raiders.

If they amount of AP offered were substantial, they wouldn’t need to do it “all day long”. Using the activities of high end raiders rarely helps any discussion because they’re known to go to extremes to get ahead. This isn’t a bash on high end raiders - that commitment gets them where they are.

Yes, I realize but that poster was trying to talk on behalf of all mythic raiders indicating the AP isn’t enough to be worth running and that really isn’t the case. They are still the best sources of AP in the game from what I can tell.

Thanks for doing all those things; however, I can think of a few more off the top of my head that still cause extreme annoyance: the shadow bolts from island trolls, the molten howl from the lava dogs, the fiery splash attack from the volcanoes, shadow crash from faceless mobs, the tentacles from the faceless invasions keeping one in combat in aeternum, etc.

It would be nice if there were a vendor to purchase the items one wanted with dubloons, too, even if the cost were great. For example, I’ve found that the best way to get the mounts is to multibox normal expeditions (I have 5 out of the 9 mounts), but that is not realistic for the average player. The drop rates for the mounts seem to be on par with Rukhmar or the Infinite Timereaver, and given that you can find the same island mount over and over again, it can be quite a frustrating sequence.

I’m one of those people. Did a few heroics, got nothing, figured if I don’t get anything I may as well take the easy road. Also got almost nothing on reg so I don’t really play them much.

Would love to queue for heroics if they had rewards.

Reasons why people run heroic and mythic:
-Higher drop rates on vanity items and more azerite

Reasons why people run normal:
-Mobs are not as OP, faster completion rate for the weekly bonus, and more chances at loot

Honestly it feels like IEs were made for mythic raiders to farm and that the vanity items were added in just to get everyone else to bother with this content.

Get to the ‘bottom of it’ ? Why people run ‘normal’ ?
Have you tried any Heroic ? Isnt it absolutely OBVIOUS what’shappening : why would you want to get wiped again and again for no additional rewards and absolutely no additional dubloons. What’s so hard to understand here ?

  • The poison dots kills you in 2 shots, most of the ‘remaining dots’ kill you in 2 shots. You fixed maybe 10 % of the ‘creatures’ op issue, including the amount of dmg they do, the HP they have etc etc
  • Dubloons on the floor ? where, is there a bank we missed somewhere ? >> No dubloons nowhere and the drop rate is still ridiculous. I think i got 8 in 6 islands… Of course no mounts, no fancy epic, no fancy nothing. I’m now to the point where paragon XP rewards is FASTER, EASIER, way more consistant (aha i can already picture the Blizzard guys : quiiiiick let’s NERF the Paragon XP : people are actually having fun there !!! )
  • Rewards from the ‘map’ is okayish, i have done a few and again, nothing fancy, nothing that would make me want to run more than 4 islands a week etc… I keep it to the bare weekly amount of runs in fact, like many many people (but you know that dont you)
    So, in short : HEroic ABSOLUTELY not more rewarding than normal BUT, way way more dangerous for some players, way longer. 10 minutes for 250 azerite doesnt do the trick really.
    If i understand correctly you said ;: we buff the mobs and we buff the rewards : well, as always, you were SO EFFICIENT and SO FAST at buffing the mobs but when it comes to rewards : you have to ‘get to the bottom of it…’ yeah… .right. good luck, sincerely, with that Island Puzzle, from ‘promising’ you’re downgrading it to ‘Bot Farm Heaven’. It’s truly HILARIOUS to actually implement something ; buff HPO and DMG and 2 weeks later wonder what could be the issue and feel the need to investigate ! :wink: truly unbelievable

Gotta agree with this. I cringe every time I get that enemy team. It’s like, woo Leg Sweep. Binding Shot. Strangulate. Death Grip. What that? Binding Shot again already? Mind Freeze. Oh yay, another Death Grip. Honestly, when my Shadow Priest fights them all she can do is use Shadow Word: Pain and Power Word:Shield since she can’t get any casts off at all with the amount of CC and interrupts they put out.

Then the Blood DK cheats too. His Bonestorm heals him for about 10% of his health every second EVEN IF NOTHING IS WITHIN RANGE. That ability is only supposed to give health on enemy hit. 3% per, up to 15%.

The teams really need to abide by player spell/ability rules. That’s the main thing wrong with the Dark Iron team. Binding Shot, Death Grip, Strangulate, etc… It seems like they have a passive 75% CD reduction on all of those. Which truthfully, it doesn’t make them unbeatable, just downright frustrating.

Yeah, so this week I got the map on 4 toons. Every reward is a stupid Azerite power mission. I hate azerite power, and do them to collect, not get a useless resource that does not matter to me. Please at least let us select if we don’t want to see that useless nonsense on our boards as a reward for the maps. It’s becoming really frustrating.

Same old pet over and over and lucky if I get a few dubs.

Why make the drops and gameplay so bad to begin with?

RNG is still RNG though, it is what it is. Saying it’s not is incorrect. OK you want higher drop rates, but for now, rng is rng.

I’ve done maybe 15 island runs in normal and Heroic. Not one drop of note. I hear all this about mounts and things… but after this many tries and nothing? Naa… I’d rather go to the dentist.

I have leveled 4 alts doing nothing but expeditions. I run many islands on heroic and mythic over my weekly cap each week. I have found 2 toys many duplicate pets and transmogs. ZERO MOUNTS .
