Hot Take - Wows endgame should move away from raiding

laughable. AotC is very accessible and most raiding guilds go for it at minimum.

Because of the gear

Well said Eternosus. I don’t know why people want to force people to enjoy the game the way they do. And if you don’t enjoy that you’re just wrong

I’m not sure that even qualifies as a hot take. Would probably get me a vacation if I said what it actually is.

Remove raiding and the game dies pretty much. The story can’t carry WoW, especially the post Legion story telling is actually better off ignored completely.

M+ wouldn’t be enough to carry the game. Without the game’s reliance on doing M+ for a crest supply that isn’t subglacial it would already just be the sweats pushing for high keys doing it.

PvP focused MMO’s don’t last long. Pretty conclusive evidence around for that.

Just because raiding has always been a pillar of the game doesn’t mean it always has to be. An MMO needs to evolve at some point, and I think PvP and dungeons could be amazing replacements if the devs gave them full focus.

If killing critters in desolace had a chance to drop your best gear you would see a huge uptick in critters killed but does that mean it’s popular?

WOW has evolved.

We got M+ to allow small group progression and now Delves for solo players. It’s not Raid or die anymore.

I think the only thing M+ “lacks” if I can use that phrase is that the raid often has more interesting trinkets and weapons. Having said that, to get those at an appropriate ilvl to outshine M+ gear you probably have to do mythic raiding and that’s a commitment most people don’t want to get into.

I understand that, but Mythic+ and PvP could be so much better if the devs focused on them and balanced the game around those systems specifically.

Can you elaborate on this? It’s not clear what your thoughts are.

I just wish I still had time for raiding like I did before all the adulting came along… Raiding was always fun, but I also enjoy M+ with the homies for a quick fix.

I HATE mythic dungeons. Absolutely hate them.

For me, the biggest turn off in any game is timed runs. Been playing Enshrouded a lot lately (Ghosts of K’aresh is boring imo) and I love the game, but I really dislike the limited time you can be in the shroud.

Timed Mythic runs are no better, if anything worse.

Mythic has been the biggest turn off for me in wow, more so than anything else I can think of (well recent PVP is pretty bad). Even the amount of delve options are kinda dumb because everyone ends up running the same tier.

Yeah no thanks.

Raid is awesome and like 50% of the reason to play. I love progressing bosses with a bunch of people sharing the same mindset and having a good time.

Blizz obviously considers the fact that raiding has been on a steady decline for years. I think that’s why they’re splitting up the raids in Midnight. Shorter raids with fewer bosses are easier to pug and require a shorter time commitment. Let’s face it, when we started playing this game we were young with no responsibilities. It’s not so easy to dedicate 3 nights a week to raiding when you have a family and career.

I’m surprised they never went back to the Wings system when they added Flex Raiding for that reason. It was great to apply to one Wing if you only had an hour.

Interesting thought. Seems like many players only care about the rewards, so the specific content is largely irrelevant.

Mythic+ is terrible. It’s the primary reason I quit most group content for multiple expansions. It even managed to suck most of the fun out of lower difficulty dungeons. I just do Follower dungeons most of the time now.

I’m doing group content again, but I jumped into raiding to do it. I’m having a blast. I’m glad we’re getting additional smaller raids in Midnight.

Regardless, I think your mind set is too focused on what you enjoy. We do receive a variety of new content. Yes, we can always expect at least one new raid per season, and in the recent past there were seasons without new dungeons. However, times have changed and we’re seeing more consistent additions to all areas of the game. Every season of The War Within has received at least one new zone, delve, dungeon, and raid.

PvP also came back alive, but it’s been limited to one new feature per expansion (that I recall). Midnight has another new battleground and the permanent comp stomp coming. It could use more support too, but they seem to recognize that now and are making improvements.

There’s room in World of Warcraft for all of us.

pvp is a joke because you either are a high end player or not and stuck facing premades. until they stop that it will never grow past where it is. they also should never change anything in the core game to suit pvp.

dungeons are meh and M+ is elitist garbage junk I want no part of. i only do solo delves and dabble in pug raids. so if you take a way raids i can delve and that’s about it for me. what a great idea
