I would say my reasons are similar but now that less and less people are playing, what’s the point? I was talking with my bro and honestly the company (blizzard-activision) has just shot itself in the foot so much its just kind of like, why should i support these guys? Even my favorite streamer quit (stoopz) because blizzard just doesn’t listen to players…

I play because I enjoy the game, though that wasn’t the case awhile ago. I played with people who told me I don’t enjoy the game, so we played other games. I’m rediscovering my own opinions and re-falling in love with this game again. I love it and I don’t care what other people think anymore, everyone is entitled to their own take.
I’m in a guild I adore with people I love playing with. That’s a good chunk of why I stay, but when it’s just me? I love farming old content or farming herbs and stuff, it’s relaxing. I enjoy sometimes just doing BS things like pet battles - though I try to push content as well. I’ll probably never mythic raid or push +20 keys, but I enjoy where I’m at and I have fun.
I feel like if I’m having fun, that’s all that should matter to me personally in terms of why I play.

WoW is a gargantuan game with humongous content. If you are hardcore, you could 24/7 no-life it and you could reach the endmost of the game killing Mythic Raid Sylvanas.
But when you are Casual, you just relax. Come what may. Do your best to reach the hardest and deepest dungeon you could reach not expecting anything. And that’s not you. You are not Casual. You tend to hate the game becoz you want to complete the endmost of this game with not much time rendered to it.
It’s not WoW’s fault that it has humongous game. Time-gate is there so that the Casual could relax not allowing the no-life people to leave them behind. If there’s no Renown-gate, the no-life would have Renown 70 on the first week of 9.1. And Blizz doesnt want that to happen. And if there’s no gate like on Mythic+ or Mythic Raid, the hardcore would beat this whole game in 3 weeks and they wont log in anymore for the rest of the week like what happened when I did beat Ragnaros and Onyxia Classic on my first week at level 60. Raid logging? It’s boring. Time-gate is there for a reason.
I know it’s fun to be good at this game. Just be patient. You are Casual anyway. It should be not grindy to you. Becoz nobody is pushing you when you are Casual.
this is how i like to play too but the systems just wore me down.
