Horde large exteriors are not an upgrade

Maybe there is more content coming, but just by nodes and space alone, the new horde exteriors are not an upgrade in anyway. The alliance large exteriors get fully secondary buildings, a large barn in the case of humans and a giant tower in the case of night elves. Both buildings dwarf the actual medium size home.

What do orcs and blood elves get? Nothing. Orcs get their medium homes side building plopped on their huts roof, and blood elves get one of their tower nodes replaced w a flat platofrm that just makes the plot asymetrical and actually takes away exterior node slots. Blood elves lose on space for a single mandatory tower node that doesnt even increase the height of their house profile.

I just want to point out the massive discrepency here in the hopes that if this is final implementation, a 2nd look might be had before the 12.1 patch launches. Blood elves should get a secondary building on par with what humans and night elves get; thematically appropriate, and with additional space and nodes. One of the floating gazeebos that are all over Silvermoon would be perfect.

Orc should similarly get a second outbuilding, on par with what humans and night elves are getting. There are plenty of orc buildings to choose from, but there needs to be something.

I really hope this is just unfinished implementation, because if this is all I’m to expect when 12.1 launches it will be a massive disappointment. Horde deserve better.

I’ll second this. I’m pretty disappointed with the Horde Large exteriors.

I thought both the Alliance Large exteriors were decent as they were quite different in both size and shape from the Medium exteriors. It is very evident by looking at them that they are Large exteriors and very distinct vs Medium exteriors. While I was hoping for more customisation of the Large exteriors, such as getting to choose where/direction the secondary building/2nd storey sits, I’m content for now as long as we get that in the future.

However, the Horde Large exteriors are super disappointing. The Blood Elf one is the exact same size and shape as the Medium exterior, except for one extra pillar platform at the back. This is not a secondary building, it’s not a new storey, it’s nothing. Both Large and Medium are the exact same size and are not different or distinguishable at all, particularly when we add pillars.

I already thought the Blood Elf Medium exterior was already stretching the justification from the Small exterior already, given all it got was an extra pimple on the side, but the Large is even more unjustifiable given the wait and time invested into housing. The Blood Elf one needs to be re-done to have a fully added secondary building and shape that makes it easily distinguishable from Mediums. It’s just disappointing that so much work went into the new Silvermoon City architecture and it feels like none of that is used for the Large exterior.

The same goes for the Orc exteriors, it’s in the same situation as the Blood Elf one.

Large exteriors need to be distinct and unique that are clearly distinguishable from a Medium exterior, to better show off the value for getting to Level 12. The Horde ones need a re-work.

The more I look at large exterior buildings I see a glaring problem, they have that WOD experience of being paper walls. They are nice to look at and nothing else, you’re adding more outside clutter but you can’t go inside of it. It’s like Temple of Karabor, Auchindoun, or Shattrath City; beautiful to look at from the outside, nothing on the inside to explore. It’s the same trap with a different color of paint.

Now look at Garrison from the same expansion, when you upgrade a Barracks or Tavern, the interior and exterior changes. It would make more sense if choosing your home size also gave something to explore within even if it’s a single room space. A level 3 barracks compared to level 1 has considerable differences on the inside, that’s what I want to see when I choose a different exterior; the interior of the exterior space.

I would happily give up the modular design if I can have actual exterior space to work with, something that already exist in the game world where I can decorate. There would still be a door that can go to the interior of the instanced home, but also an exterior space that has substance. Here’s an example of existing Night Elf Spaces.

Small Exterior:

Medium Exterior:

Large Exterior:

If we had a more updated versions of these structures, emptied out as blank slates, shrunken down versions that can fit the plot; I would very much like these as my “exterior” homes. I want to be able to enter the structure without going inside of the instanced home and decorate it so it feels like an actual space that exists on my plot.
