Alliance has never been the “weird” or “wild” faction, but instead the go-to for classic fantasy mainstays. Blizzard could change that… but then you’d just have blue Horde alongside red Horde. No thanks.

Hadn’t Blizzard already sort of changed that with adding worgen to Alliance? You might make an argument that Dark Iron fantasy suited Horde more, too.
