Honor doesnt feel honorable

Without instanced pvp. 99% of world pvp is nothing but one side that outnumbers and steamrolls the other. Wether its a party that takes out 1-2 players, or a raid that takes out a party, its just kinda cheesey.
Its been a fun bees nest out there in certian ways, im not necessarily complaining but personally would like to see bgs come out in the foreseeable future to have some even numbered battles

I agree, I enjoy pvp but alot of the wpvp i’ve been involved in was a completely one sided mess. I enjoy the whole southshore vs tarren mill stuff but as you said getting killed by a whole raid is kinda cheesey lol. Hoping bgs will fix it but im not too sure if it will or not honestly

Bg’s won’t change this. With bg’s it will be premades in discord steamrolling half afk teams, 4 newbs, and that one guy who rages the entire match. Then probably makes a thread or five about it.

Its all about if ur geared not.

But at least will be even numbers in a small area. Premades are going to happen regardless. At least with match making most of the time, premades will be matched with other premades.

I would have to agree! First let me say i’m on a horde heavy pvp server. I do not engage the roaming horde. I target people who are also solo; i am forced to do this. I pretty much destroy anyone my level or 4 lvls higher. I would like a more engaging fight, but there are too many horde. I stay in the shadows and strike

Maybe they can rename it to Murder.

There was no match making in vanilla.

As soon as BGs are released we will be seeing threads crying about premades and how its not fair…

The whining will never stop…

There aren’t that many premades.

OMG its a kelthuzad premade!

At least bgs are a fair fight numbers wise. From there its on me to outplay and thats all i can ask for. If i get “tryhard discord” teams now and then and lose, so be it. Maybe i can learn something from those matches and improve. Thats how i see it.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. I’ll preface this with except for ICC and the 5 mans in Cata, I have exclusively been a PvPer since Vanilla.

Most people are bad at PvP. I can’t tell you the number of people I’ve played with who haven’t hit 1550 in arena. 1550 is the PvP equivalent to having a highschool degree. If you haven’t been able to accomplish that, you’re going to suffer in your endeavor.

Now if, on the other hand, you’re skilled (2k+ without a meta FotM comp), you can definitely beat the odds to an extent. However:

Classic/Vanilla WoW PvP is about the numbers and gear. I stopped playing my warrior because I got tired of raid logging MC. But in that time I relearned how having five total useful abilities and being rage starved really made PvP SLOW. And that’s an issue, specifically for world PvP because…:

A skilled player makes snap decisions and utilizes every second to put out the highest level of damage or healing consistently. In retail there is a huge discrepancy in players’ ability to do this because PvP is more action/arcade-y, aka fast paced. More decisions must be made and at a faster rate. There is more room for error, and more room for a better player to shine.

In classic, it’s so slow that there’s not much room to differentiate bad PvPers from good. I can crush two better geared opponents in retail by simply being faster and smarter. Watch most of the old montages of Vanilla PvP. It’s people one shotting each other due to gear discrepancies. It’s a far cry from the evolved PvP we have today.

Finally, you’ve got to make your own content in world PvP. I know this is foreign to a lot of people who only ever knew BGs, but there’s a lot you can do. Here are some things I remember off the top of my head, all of which we were outnumbered in:

-Use the tree branches in Elwynn forest to hide a group of players and bait some Alliance into flagging.
-Fought near the tram and used it as an escape route (by learning the exact time it took to go back and forth) when an entire raid came for us from IF.
-Swam to the enemy base in Ashran with one other person, killed an entire crowd of players at their vendors from the roof, and then had my priest friend use the Ashran buff to fly into the air and life grip me into a hang glider so we could escape 30+ players.
-Fought outside of the garrison loading zone with 7 people versus 20+ and won. Repeatedly.

None of this is going to be spoon fed to you; it’s content you have to create on your own. Most people are too lazy to do this because it doesn’t offer any reward aside from the unique experience. Turns out a lot of people don’t value experience.

Outside of being really creative and baiting people away from their groups, Classic isn’t going to have a fun world PvP experience for the reasons above. I don’t think it’d be much fun even if the servers were balanced, and I don’t think PvP will be fun when BGs are released. It’s just too slow to reward good players. It feels like playing rock, paper, scissors in comparison to retail.

There aren’t that many roaming deathsquads right now either. Lol.
If this wpvp is any indication of how many are going for rank. We are going to see a lot more premades then we ever did.
The win trading will be rampant.

Bingo. Which is why BGs will be a mess, and open world ganking will devolve into battles over BFD/DM/ONY to catch up.

Which is more appealing: grinding ONY, or zerging in southshore?

Surfing is fun btw, as is learning how to fish off a boat. Or pretty much anything else than grinding in Classic WoW.

Ill preface this by saying ive been multi 2400+ in arena and multi 2200+ in rbgs. Current honor level is almost 500. Ive played a lot of pvp.

Ill touch on a few of the points here, most are assumptions of which i disagree with.

  • win trading will not be an issue in bgs. It requires too much effort and coordination between factions for little return. (+ its bannable)
  • just because i would like bgs to come out in the foreseeable future, this does not mean i dont currently do world pvp and “create my own pvp content”. I do that.
  • i strongly disagree with the statement of bfa being more skill dependant than classic. The only skill aspect that bfa has over classic is the shorter global. Bfa has much less abilities, simplified talent trees, much more passive tankiness (which makes outplays less rewarding) than classic.

I dunno man, Its quite enjoyable to kill these lvl 50-59 honor pinatas.
