Alright so I dont see much posts about midnight holy pvp so ill make one.
Since prepatch holy priest feels weird and not in a good way. TWW iteration of holy priest was the best ive seen since I started playing in BFA for pvp it was absolutely perfect especially in the last season; however, since midnight prepatch and blizzard removing abilities and changing abilities. To be honest Holy priest feels unplayable because we lost too many abilities. We lost Divine ascension, heal, oracle old version which used to make us tanky, “Psychic voice” and “Void tendrils” became a choice nod weirdly, we lost symbol of hope, we lost shadow word pain, we lost shadowfiend.
As a healer holy priest has always been versatile with answer for every situation and now it feels like a sitting duck in a lot of situations. I’m not asking for any buff or anything im just asking for us to get our spells back that we lost because this feels awful. We need a few abilities to return in pvp and ill explain why below.
- Shadow word pain - this is in instant damage ability that we need in pvp. It was our only instand damage ability that can be casted at ranged useful if an enemy is trying to capture our flag in battlegrounds. without it we have to rely on holy nova for instant damage but its an aoe centered on our characters position so its not really good if we are far away from the flag,
- Heal - okay so this was a baseline ability, it did not need to get removed, i feel like if people didnt want to use heal then they dont need to use it even in pve they arent force to use this, there was no need to remove it. In pvp this spell was important because of its instant cast effect. The “Divinity” talent made it instant cast and the “waste no time” oracle talent also ccause heal to be instant cast. and as you know heal heals more then flash heal so it made priest tanky because we are good at healing without casting which is one of holy priest percs. but with its removal we lost access to that and since we only have one spell group which is holy it makes matters even worse. yes I understand you can still use “prayer of healing” with “divinity” but it still doesnt do as much single target healing as “heal” so its removal is a nerf for holy priest in pvp in that regard.
- We lost divine ascension. Okay so this change makes no sense. Holy priest only has one spell pool so if we are targeted by melee and they inturrupt us and even if we fade and screem eventually we become sitting ducks, divine ascension became a game changer against melee because it raised us in the air to avoid their attack but yet it was removed for no reason. Bring this back. All your doing by removing this is nerfing our survivability? it makes no sense?
- Revert oracle to its old iteration in tww. This new version I understand is to make it more player friendly but its killing holy priest. There is nothing wrong with having an advance version of holy priest. its good that “piety” became a perminent passive but what about “Prominition of insight” which reduced the cooldowns of spells and “prominition of solace” which gave a shield. “Prominition of insight” was good in pvp because you could use it with fade to get a 10 sec invincibility with “phase shift” making you more tanky. you could also use it with prayer of mending to have instant heals on you with shield 3 times in a row and it was good with aoe healing because prayer of mending spread to allies faster with insight. “prominition of solace” was good because it gave you or your allies a shield which saved me or allies more then a lot of times in pvp. And finally the “premonition of claivoyance” this was the best spell holy priest had because it combined all the abilities in pvp it meant 10 sec fade cooldown and instant shield and instant passive aoe healing with piety it was one of our “oh no” buttons that just got gutted. the current version of oracle is a skeleton of its TWW version especially in pvp. Please revert it back. Or if you aren’t going to revert it back then give us back “Greater Fade”
- Loss of symbol of hope. Traditionally holy priest has always been the strongest healer in pvp because we only have one type of spell pool “Holy” and so our mana would drain faster then the other healers. So the removal of symbol of hope is a nerf in that regard. It is also a nerf because it reduced the cooldown of “Desperate prayer” and made it up more often when using “symbol of hope”. with its removal we have to wait on its natural cooldown to be finished. While we’re on this conversation unnerf “Angels Mercy” if any of you guys remember it used to reduce the cool down of “Desperate prayer” based of damage taken continually so it used to be available more often but it got nerfed to reduce its damage by 20 secs.
- Removal of shadowfiend. This wasnt really mandatory in pvp but it was a nice talent. It provided passive mana regen which holy priest is bad at. Also if your defending a flag you could use it on a rogue. lets say the rogue saps you and you trinket and shadow word pain the rogue and use shadowfiend. and the rogue uses blind. well the shadowfiend would still be attacking the rogue forcing them to attack you and helping you defend the flag. Also if youre under heavy cc and someone on the enemy team is trying to cap a nod its helpful with that too if you get a window of oppurtunity. but us losing that is also a negative in pvp.
- for some weird reason “Psychic voice” and “Void tendrils” became a choice nod together which cripples us because we have to chose between a 30 sec screem and void tendrils and then void tendrils becoming a passive is another issue in its self in pvp. Before if a melee was on you in pvp you could “Void tendril” then fade because melee usually apply snare effect. and you could get out of harms way and then if that come at you again you could screem but with this prepatch version screem is combined with tendrils which isnt good because it basically combines two of our kitting abilities . Revert them back to its old version, dont make these two choice nods. scream and tendrils are good abilities but we shouldnt have to choose between them. 30 sec scream is mandatory in pvp.
Ultimately, PVP Holy priest was in its best state TWW season 3. It did not need any changes or abilties removed. The abilities removed basically ruined its state in pvp. Revert these changes. While youre at it, give us back greater fade. If you take anything from this. Give us back Heal. Give us back the old Oracle. Youre going to see not a lot of people play holy priest in pvp because “Ultimate Serenity” is cool and all but outside of the apotheosis window youre basically dead. As a holy priest pvp player, I love my pve brothers and sisters but stop balancing the game off of pve players only. you need to take pvp players into consideration. because right now I only have like 2 or 3 offensive abilities and my survivability got gutted in the morning of the prepatch. It just isnt fair how am I tanky one day in TWW and dead weight the next day in Midnight prepatch, having important abilities you had that made you immortal/tanky removed and now your class is a shell of its former self sucks. its a problem that needs to be adressed now before midnight goes live. To be honest i fear that even at max level 90 and with tier set holy priest isnt going to be as good as it was in TWW for pvp. Please take a look at holy priest pvp or midnight, it needs a thorough look at its survivability vs other healers compared to TWW last season. Hope yall have a good day!
