Cool, that’s kinda what I thought after reading through the guide and it had a few things that I thought were cool ideas.
yea I prioritize healing and just plain helping your teammates around you in general as the joy of what playing paladin to its fullest is. I too get a gross feeling in my gut when I dont have a shield on. I did recently think about going 31/7/13 though for super burst with holy shock + SoC Proc + HoJ/JoC with on use trinket, dont think id like using a 2H though because of less mitigation.
T3 is pretty insane stat efficiency and all that +healing is much more than you could get from any of the spell damage gear so i definitely get the sit back and heal the group style with it
Right. I added your comment about Holy Shock and R1 BoS in the guide. Thanks for the mention.
Agreed, they are pretty hard to track in battlegrounds because there is often more than one of each class, meaning the addon will struggle to track the actuel cooldown but it can help a lot in managing your cooldown.
Yea, I think T3 just gives so more utility / healing / raw stats that it’s really hard to pass on it. On the other side, as far as Shockadin/Hybrid goes ; T2.5 gives decent raw stats and spellpower. It just doesn’t fit my playstyle.
Yea that could be some intense burst damage coming from a healer, but you would lose the silence “resist” from the protection tree! You do gain a lot more damage though.
im currently 31/13/7 so Im missing the imp conc aura anyway. I guess I value those 7 points in ret for more judging and seal usage in general. even in PvE I like to be up in the fray to keep wisdom/light up.
I did go 31/20 or 31/18/2 early on cause imp conc aura is pretty nice though
Thanks!
Yea, they are decent option. I like having Conc Aura + reduce CD on HoJ because HoJ is a real changer (except vs orcs and 20% stun resist).
Added a section about few useful macros!
What are the 12th and 13th points in Prot?
33/11/7 is my favorite PvE Holy spec. (I too enjoy Judging – Lasting Judgment is amazing.) There are definitely some very strong ways to spend the 32nd and 33rd points in Holy. In the context of PvP (since this is a PvP thread), 2/2 Unyielding Faith (UF) would be top of the list, or 2/2 Improved LoH if already 2/2 UF.
2/3 imp shield block for 20% more block absorb.
Ive pulled some of the common PvE talents towards a more offensive leaning build (while still being useful as a healer) by removing 3/3 imp holy light/BoL and 2/2 LoH or 2/2 unyielding faith for 5/5 imp seal of righteouss. since im in the fray meleeing too i only got 1/3 lasting judgement which still helps a lot
OK, this raises a question I have: does Improved Seal of Righteousness apply only to the base ability, or the total (i.e., factoring in +spell damage)? Especially if the latter, then it is definitely worth considering in a PvP context (shockadin).
I am 99,9% sure it only increase base damage.
You are losing out on 2x very strong talent though. If you are melee’ing a lot and also super offensive, it might be worth it but I think you should keep Unyielding Faith if you pick between that and improved LoH.
I’d argue having eye for an eye is the best build for PVP healing. Improved conc aura is good but it doesn’t seem to actually work that often.
I see Eye hit for 1.5k+ all the time. That type of damage to a mage is deadly - especially with how high damage and crit are endgame.
The parry adds to survivability and you can easily pick up the run speed so you can add a useful enchant to your boots. This also adds to your overall offensive ability.
Going for imp conc aura pretty much pigeon holes you into being a heal/dispel bot.
Also, doing a repentance build might be the best build. You’ll be using more mana consumes with less crit in the holy tree - but having that CC is incredible if you’ve ever gone down ret. It’s amazing for peeling and being able to land a fat holy light in the midst of taking the D.
There are so many different ways to play. With premades virtually being dead - it’s hard to know what build makes the most sense. A very tradition holy/prot was certainly the way to go back when I was ranking.
Let’s agree to disagree. It’s working 15% of the time. It’s roughly 1 time out of 7. It also works for your party members. Your mage resisting the interrupt or the silence might be the difference between the target dying and surviving. Going for an Eye for an Eye you lose out on :
Kings, Redoubt (improved Block after crit), shorter BoP + longer Freedom and reduce CD on HoJ. That’s a lot of utility you are throwing away for an ability that is only rewarding when you are cought out of position or when you are pushing in.
In my humble opinion, Improved Concentration Aura is just too good t not spec into it.
You know an other ability that lets you get a fat holy light in the midst of taking the D ? Concentration Aura Also, ever single time you use a consumable for mana, it’s a consum not used for your survival.
Yes and no. You can still switch to 2 Hander in this spec help a lot on DPS. I often do it when I get a HoJ on an overextending player.
As stated multiple time in the guide, I think you can play around the spec a lot depending on your playstyle. But, if you enjoy heal and to maximize your utility, I highly suggest going for Improved Concentration Aura.
I still believe it is the build that is the most effective because it provide the most overall utility to your partners.
Tbc Holy Pally pvp guide.
Reroll.
I will bump this when I get Gladiator on Paladin at the end of S1.
Good luck, I only could get 2400 back in WOTLK as a hpally.
I imagine it would be even harder now.
I’m not saying hpally won’t be a glad viable spec, but compare representation of hpally to rdruid or priest.
Saying you will make glad in s1 of tbc is irrelevant, there will be hpallys, but they are going to be far harder to get than other healers.
