Holy paladin gear Idea

This was kind of expected with the level cap being 25. The main gimmick of Holy is Illumination, which you can get, at best, 1/5 right now. With being able to get to about 8.8% spell crit unbuffed, or about 12.75% spell crit fully buffed in BFD, and at most a 20% chance to be refunded mana on a crit HL/FoL, most people wrote off holy pally for phase 1 before it dropped.

Put 5 holy paladin items as an option in 5 different quests where the reward is one of four blue items

Now you can have less holy pally drops in raid (but still some)

again, I’d be happy to see that too.

Though gear aside I do wanna mention the priest gimmick again, where they pray with one another. That and mages getting scrolls is really neat, I hope they continue to come up with neat lil things like that for other classes. Like random animals can spawn in the wild that druids can talk to and get a buff before they run off based on how they respond to it or what it is.

Here are some goofy runes where you can blow on a horn and take damage from your raid.

Oh we forgot your throughput is going to royally suck but it’s ok.

Horn is a bit of a disaster without kings, and now that hunters run Heart of the line Kings is kinda pointless to spec into with a hunter…

Horn needs some love if it wants to be used.

Beacon of light phase 1 sucks, too much mana for 1min buff, and can be dispelled in pvp so not seeing any use in either.

Lets hope some good rune love phase 2, else I dunno how we’ll compete with penance / Prayer of mending, since you know all runes scale. :sweat_smile:

We likely will not. We honestly just need Holy Light the rune. Makes it 30% stronger and cost half the mana and then all the sudden we are competitive with priest. Only being half serious, but with prayer of mending and penance being so cheap, their throughput is just far too great.

We will not see that kind of throughput ever without some runed healing abilities.

My gut tells me they are going to make all these fancy goofy runes that will have some affect for raids but useless for PvP.

After phase 1, I just don’t have much hope and I hate the fact my enjoyment hinges on someone making an interactive rune ability that is actually good.

Nobody likes blowing on a horn every 2 minutes.

I think it’s a neat idea. I don’t think it even needs to be limited to specific gear necessarily. It could just be a mechanic you apply to gear that converts all strength (and agi?) on the gear to intellect and AP to healing power. It can also convert crit to spell crit if necessary, not sure if some of it is already generic or not in vanilla.

Blizzard also didn’t seem willing to design new gear just for one spec of one class judging by BFD so it would save them a lot of time and effort to just let Holy Paladins repurpose the melee gear.
