I have a lot of issues especially about Holy Prism.
It already does do more compared to Light’s Hammer in dps and healing, if you cast it on cd 4 times to the once you cast Light’s Hammer, it performs better, theirs two HUGE issues on why it’s not being picked.
- Firstly Holy has enough mana issues as it is, especially if you and very much should be running 2 charges of Crusader Strike.
- Secondly, no one wants another 20 second maintenance spell to cast on 20 seconds, it’s tough as it is now adding another short button to the mix absolutely feels horrible, that’s why Light’s Hammer is better, press and forget for 1 minute. We don’t even get the full use of Lights hammer and it’s still picked over Holy Prism. Seriously I’m lucky enough to get 6- 8 seconds of the 14 seconds of its use and it’s on a 1 minute cd.
Defending Holy Prism saying it’s tuning isn’t the right answer, Especially when it does theoretically perform already better then Light’s Hammer and isn’t tied to movement.
If anything SotR is the reason we have lack of choice, we are being forced to use a shield for literally one ability, SotR it itself is creating lack of choice.
Have you seriously played the PTR as Ret? Blessed hammer replaces Crusader Strike, 3 charges at mid range generates HP, Blade of Justice depends on talents, generates 1-2 hp, 20 yd range, cleaves, applies a DoT and can apply consecration from range. And the icing on the cake it’s pretty much spammable can be on 2 charges, procs reset it.
They’ve literally removed all reasons to be constantly in melee, if anything your a mid ranged class now, yes you may still close up to Blinding Light and Rebuke which can be talented into more range and occasionally Divine Storm.
Ret is living proof that added range even as short as 10 yds literally makes the spec feel infinitely better not being restricted by being in melee to generate and spend HP.
Giving Holy 10 yds range also keeps us close for Light of Dawn which baseline is 15 yds.
10-15 yds range doesn’t effect
- Mastery, have you actually healed from melee and 10yd I tested this and LoD just heals around 2k more completely negligible especially on Higher keys are we spamming the hell out of it for Awakening Procs. Have you seen how much overhealing LoD does, do think that added 2k is relevant?.
- Crusader strike, Like Ret could get added range and just like them increased range on auto attacks, also Blessed Hammer. We should be able to function completely not being in range.
- SotR needs to go, we need a spender like I mentioned that isn’t restricted if we can’t reach them, huge QoL.
- light of Dawn still reaches and gives 5 yd leeway.
- consecration like Ret that massively addressed button bloat and quality of life, attach it to our filler.
- Rebuke, 10 yd range.
- HoJ is perfect now at 10yd.
- Blinding Light should stay as it.
- Lights hammer in high Keys and PvP is horrible, with the amount of kiting, movement, mechanics and affixes like I previously mentioned your luck to even get 6-8 seconds of its 14 second Duration. It’s only picked cause it’s one less button to worry about just every minute, have you seriously even looked at logs with the amount of healing and damage it does?. On the high end it’s about 2-3% of healing in a whole dungeon, Broodkeepers Trinket Does more averaging at 6%… I think you’re crazy saying this is an excuse to be in melee.
This isn’t 2004 anymore logs are easily available and can see how the top players in all content perform and their abilities and how much they contribute.
Essentially they’ve turned Ret into a mid ranged caster, Holy Should get the same treatment, Ret you literally only have to weave into melee to Blinding Light and Divine Storm, we should fundamentally perform the exact same way.
Like you’re defending these skills saying we need to be in melee for them when they are absolutely useless. Ret is proof added range to a majority of their toolkit, I’d say 90% now can be casted 10yd or further is proof how much better the spec can be not being hindered by melee. They don’t need to be in melee to generate HP anymore or spend it.
Personally I’d suggest you download and play the PTR, Ret feels so insane now and now by comparison it shows how badly Holy has been designed.
It’s not a straw man argument, it’s fact, it’s happening right now to Ret and being praised as one of the best iterations they’ve seen.
Rets new spec tree, class design, synergy between talents now is flawless, we still literally have half our tree never picked in any form of content. They even can get an instant cast Flash of Light, so much self sustain aswell.
Yet Holy Paladin is being held back by poor design and people on a nostalgia trip saying it’s better as melee.
