I spent most of my early BFA time doing warfronts and expeditions and a few dungeons and then realized that was all a waste of time because the game now revolves around repeated world quests. Which is a very bad philosophy that ruins the game. Rep grinds that are mandatory take away all game enjoyment. That is why pathfinder killed the game starting on WOD.
There’s hints on the PTR about a Barrens/Durotar warfront. No clues yet as to what it may entail. I don’t mind them personally. Best transmogs in BfA (leaving aside the racial heritage armor) and they’re fairly entertaining to just blow through once a cycle on each alt for the quest. I’d probably lose my mind trying to spam them though.
The Heroic ones are challenging enough to be fun. I’ll be interested to see how the Darkshore one turns out in the new difficulty.
The darkshore warfront sucked yeah, stromguarde was nice. They arnt fun enough or challenging enough. Half your team can afk and you will still win. and the rewards are MEH.
Warfronts could’ve easily been used to show us that Azeroth as a whole is at war. Could’ve been used to flesh out some characters or introduce new ones. Could’ve been used as a new style of BG. But no, they did none of that. Potential wasted.
I don’t remember anyone that was excited about this feature.
Even less so after the incredibly hyped BFA feature Islands released and largely flopped.
Yeah, I think that’s the biggest bummer.
- add enough pressure that failure can happen
- add something that feels like a random meaningful event
And warfront might have been ok. The first round of heroic was actually pretty fun. It felt like an actual challenge. It felt like resources mattered. People actually communicated. AFK’s got kicked. I’m sure it will turn into a total faceroll soon enough.
Also, have to believe if there could be actual pvp involved it would have been better but not sure how that would have been implemented.
You cant though. Because the forum lurkers only make up 000.1% of the playerbase, and not even that probably. If you pay attention, most of the folks who say they hate them, or call them boring, etc, etc are usually the same 7, or 8 people that say the same thing over, and over in these threads about warfronts, assaults, lfr, and so on. Those 7, or 8 people like to claim they represent the rest of the playerbase lol. Or they try, and use forum buzzwords like majority, minority yada, yada to haha.
You make a good point. Personally i hope they add more Warfronts before the expansion is up.
In my opinion, warfronts should have been pvp, or at least had it as an option. As pve they’re basically an instanced battleground that you can’t really lose and serve no purpose other than gearing alts and sinking time.
I AM the lowest common denominator and, once you out gear them, there is no reason to do them. Let me get pearls from them, or doubloons, and I would still do them.
Warfronts have potential but the devs didn’t apply much imagination to them at all.
I liked them in that it brought a little bit of the rts aspect to the game. Just wish the players would of had to do the actual mining, and cutting down the trees for lumber instead of npc’s. Would of probably made it more team based. Darkshore the player could go saw down the trees if they wanted to, which I thought was pretty cool. Never understood why the player didn’t have the option to mine ore also.
Yes…although it’s stripped down a lot and is more like SS vs TM brawl than old Ashran. There was also an Ashran brawl that have most of the old features including not ending.
As for warfronts, Arathi was kinda fun at first, but did get old fast. You can definitely lose the Heroic version, but I only found it a little more interesting personally.
I never enjoyed the dark shore one. Having the same 2 bosses over and over diesn’t help.
