Hoist the Sails, a Plunderstorm Has Arrived!

Cool. You like the idea of abandoning your character you have practiced on and built up so you can play wow fortnite. More power to you.

Logging out is abandoning your character, do you do that?

So, I hate being a negative Nancy, and I will be trying this mode later, but the rollout decisions were a poor choice, nay, a cataclysmically bad choice.

This is something that should have been advertised up front, with lots of clarifying as to which client’s content was being gutted for this mode (Why should I give up retail content for something that offers rewards for classic when there is no parity and the classic team doesn’t offer any content for retail? Was this the work of just the PVP team? The events team? Who was taken off their other assignments for this? Did you create a team just for these types of activities? If so, why not advertise that up front as an investment into the overall wow ecosystem? Was this a side project that got greenlit to become a feature?). As it stands, dropping this with no buildup as to its own merits mean that none of them get highlighted, and all we are left with is a bad taste of unmet expectations.

I genuinely feel bad, cringingly bad, for the developers who probably spent months working this out, all of the gameplay designers, artists, and heck, the folks who made the fun little intro video, because the absolutely wrong choice was made to keep this a secret, allowing the reasonable and negative feedback to come out all at once rather than be addressed with responses over time. Never before have I wanted to make sure that the ground level folks were insulated from the forums so much, because this isn’t a critique of their likely amazing work, but on the upper level marketing decision.

While I appreciate that creating a separate client and effectively combining resources on a singular game mode that offers rewards for both Classic and Standard is new, I’m not overly optimistic where this may lead us. I don’t want this ‘experiment’ to fail on the merits of the work of the developers, but I do want it to fail as a way to divert and reduce resources away from retail in favor of a shared ecosystem. But that might be what Microsoft is pushing for, further streamlining the development process in favor of generalized content rather than retail or classic specific content.

Ease up buddy, it will be okay.

You… you get the mog for your character, you’re not abandoning them. You play them after, you realize that right?

Launcher? What… Wait so… It’s a completely… What!?

You’re not abandoning anything. It’ll still be there, and the rewards can be used on your character.

It doesn’t interest me but I hope others will find it fun.

The forum’s are not and have never been an accurate perspective on “what players want”.

Do you even understand how this new game mode works? Abandoning what? You’ve hardly spent anytime when joining a game, HELL YOU SPEND MORE TIME IN THE ACTUAL GAME WAITING ON QUES, than you do in this game mode - so what have you lost - have you lost your mind ?

Oh boy, same reason I don’t play Warzone, I gave fortnite a try years ago when my son asked me too, I tried it once and was like ‘nope’ this is way I play WoW. I’ll give it a try as long as I can keep things like pets and transmogs if anything.

Yes, it only comprised about 50% of the game.

No need for personal attacks. Go play some fortnite and wait for maintenance to end and then you can consume the patch.

That’s not what’s happening. You’ll be able to farm all transmog on all classes. You still won’t be able to use the cloth/leather/mail eyepatches on a plate character.

This is completely different, this isn’t a shooter BR. It’s like saying I don’t want to play New World because EVE Online left a sour taste in my mouth.

The answer is simple. To play wow. To play the characters I invested into. If I want fortnite, I’d play it. I don’t, so I don’t.

Id see it problem if they were wanting me to give this a go against a zone full of geared players who pvp for a living. So, no, I actually don’t see a problem with participating with predefined characters.

That’s not how it works. You can unlock mogs on every character regardless of armor class. You can’t use them on every character regardless of armor class.
