I wonder why this was billed as a World of Warcraft thing. It’s an entirely separate game like Warcraft Rumble. I was expecting new content in WoW, but it doesn’t look like 10.2.6 has any new content in the actual game that we play. Why even link this to a retail WoW patch? It seems dishonest.
this sets a new precedent for .6 patches which have never been a thing before.
i love it
Bliz said “No, you don’t have to do PVP to do this event.” Also Bliz," Of course you can still be targeted by other players…" Now a word from Giorgio A. Tsoukalos the ancient aliens guy… “I’m not saying it’s PVP, but it’s PVP.” Count me out.
“I don’t know if it been discussed, but there’s 40 Renown levels that will raise up every 4 or so matches, or at least one Renown level a day for even the most casual of players.”
“Every Renown level you obtain has a reward associated with them. Everything that you unlock on this mode is also unlocked on your transmog tab for your main World of Warcraft characters, and there’s couple rewards for Wrath of the Lich King Classic, including a pet and a mount!”
What if the Plunder Server stays up and available during maintenance? Keep it permanent.
What kind of chat is allowed?
Being able to speak or chat with opposing players could make for some… interesting situations.
Hopefully the only chatting allowed is in the lobby and communications are disabled once the match starts or I fear it will become extremely toxic
lol wut

lol i’m crying
I don’t play any Battle Royals at the moment but this actually looks like fun, waiting an hour to play solo shuffle isn’t, bg que times horrendous, so a even playing field you can instantly jump into and more players queing up for because its more approachable is exactly the kind of direction PvP needs to take in my opinion
I mean, it really isn’t just a problem for PvE players.
I imagine a PvP player who is excited for this event wants people in it who are actually going to try? People who will try to make this work? By adding collectibles, Blizzard is incentivizing anyone who cares about those collectibles to join up… but I hate PvP, so if I sign up, my one and only goal will be “get it over with as quickly as possible.”
I don’t want people in my PvE groups doing nothing. Do PvPers really want people in their matches who just want it over with? (I assumed they actually wanted competition, but perhaps I was wrong… I mean, excluding world PvPers who just want to screw with other people, obviously…)
I’d love to give this event a pass. And I might. But the fact that there are collectibles means it’s not an easy or trivial call for me, despite my utter distaste for PvP in this game. I genuinely hope that the PvPers get to enjoy it, and that PvErs (like me) don’t ruin it for them by just walking in and not trying.
I doubt it, why? I feel like he can afford to say “no” to nearly any company he wants to. Does not need money from anyone.
This makes little to no sense TBH. I guess I can keep farming for the Horrific Visions mount.
It takes place in a World of Warcraft zone, it uses pre-existing WoW Pirate factions, it uses a modified version of the WoW UI, and it gives rewards in Retail/Classic…but most importantly, it requires the installation of WoW to play.
This looks super fun and excited to try it out! Spellbreak was fun and wondering if some of their devs worked on this
Hey Pyri. The context of my concern is that Blizzard reduced a significant portion of their persons resource, be they developers, customer service or janitors.
And then, as a company, decided that their efforts should be put into making a Battle Royal mini game.
I don’t know the ins and outs, all I can comment on as a player is that it confuses me.
Chad take right here.
While I generally agree with the sentiment, in this case putting in rewards that are going to require 200 matches is basically a way to make the people who don’t like PvP fodder for those who do.
I’d have no issues with giving the PvPers an event they can enjoy. Don’t make collectors thier fodder to do it.
I wish they’d devote the resources to fixing issues with the existing systems rather than creating new ones. I dislike these berserker/AA type boosts, it’s why I don’t play BG blitz.
This screams mobile game to me.
