They are not even trying anything new though is the problem here, they are trend chasing.
Wanna know what something new was? Warfronts, that was new taht was interesting and a leap into the unknown. This is just copying a stale game mode.

Generic templates. The “event” is separate from WoW and has to be selected in the launcher like classic or SoD. Your characters will not be available for use.

right, but he implied that the remaining employees were somehow tasked with extra work on developing this game mode afterward.
As bad as this secret new battle royale reveal is… I’m more concerned about the massive holy priest and not so massive mistweaver talent changes going live with no PTR testing. One of the holy priest notes says 7% healing reduction. Are we saying it’s OK to release stuff like that without testing now?

Serious feedback:
It’s a PvP event. I don’t enjoy PvP in this game. I’ve tried, a number of times, to get into it. It’s just… boring, when it isn’t annoying frustrating or being ruined by toxic PvPers. (My original foray onto PvP servers back in the day ended when I asked why I should put up with getting ganked by max level players, and was told “so that you can be the one doing the ganking.” As I’m not a sadist and don’t enjoy bullying others, I decided that wasn’t particularly interested and left PvP servers behind.)
I don’t like pirates, but having a pirate event isn’t a problem. I simply cannot get excited for a PvP event. I don’t enjoy the mode, I don’t enjoy the hatred and bickering and aggression and endless screaming that comes from players in PvP modes.
If it was just “PvPers, have a cool extra thing for a few weeks”, I wouldn’t care. At all. I’m happy to see people who enjoy things I don’t get more stuff to do. I don’t have to do it.
But I’m also a collector, and they added a bunch of collectibles… so now I have genuine incentive to spend a lot of time doing something I know I won’t like.
Which I’m sure is the point. With 60 players, you need people queuing up, and incentives to get people in is a good thing from a design standpoint.
I don’t enjoy battlegrounds. I don’t enjoy Arena. I absolutely loathe world PvP with a fiery passion . I could tolerate warfronts. I could tolerate Wintergrasp and Tol Barad on occasion, but even those I only did to open up the PvE side after. I don’t enjoy the various twists on Battlegrounds they’ve put out… and nothing about Fortnite has ever remotely appealed to me.
Why, exactly, should I look forward to this?

Or, you know, we don’t like devs wasting time on something that 90% of the userbase finds idiotic, all the while wasting our money every single month as things in the current game remain broken.
But yeah, I guess you can crucify yourself to the “QUIT BEING LITTLE WHINY BRATS AND SHOVE THIS GAMEMODE YOU DIDNT ASK FOR DOWN YOUR THROAT” cross.

Probably something as boring and awful as warfronts.
It was a tragedy there was no PvP warfronts.
