I think it’s pretty good feedback. I can understand putting in some restrictions on the mount to make it special in some way. But there are certainly better ways to restrict it than to make it unusable to virtually everyone over a period of time.
OK, so it’s a 5 man mount. For the original group. But without that group (so long as all party members have finished the event) it’s only a 3 man mount. Or something less restrictive. But still usable to the players.
Is blizzard assuming I could make 4 friends and hang out with them often enough to make use of this mount? Its stuff like this that makes me feel like I am not normal. Is this normal for most people? I just wanted to be able to help the few friends I do have get around faster when they make alts. but I guess not. I thought I wanted that, but I didn’t.
Or give everyone a toy they can “hive mind” re-attune without completing the whole quest again. I did it on an alt…I don’t have the monocles on my main.
I mean the little scenario was cute, but it wasn’t friendship-binding any more than anything else in wow… I don’t know… like being actual friends.
Heck, just have everyone mount their mind and join together on their mounts to “join the hive”… the quest line shouldn’t be it.
That’s what I was thinking, if it were a little ritual, like a toy item, that everyone had to have had done the quest line themselves to have. Then you could right click it, and re-bind the mount. Maybe a cooldown every week, perhaps, so that the choice to re-bind is meaningful?
That is what I had envisioned when I saw “re-complete the ritual with a new group”.
Which means if one of the five quits all four of the others will have to do it all over again with a new fifth. If that’s not garbage game design, I don’t know what is.
I’d also like to add that it’s not a plus in guilds either. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that this mount’s design model further attacks guild structure.
“Hey, I hear you got the mount. Would anyone help me?” “Sorry, we don’t want to re-bind”
“Hey, I’d like to join your M+ group.” “Sorry, we use the mount for a fixed group now.”
At the least they should tweak it so that as long as someone has done the quest chain and they are in your guild, they can ride along. I’m running out of patience with their claims of “family”, and then yet another thing is released that makes managing a guild, making sure that hard cliques don’t form, more labor intensive.
Sometimes I just wish they’d say: “Yep. We believe the future is guildless.” Then I can pack up and move on. This slow death is horrid.
That’s what I hear. I approve of that. I can’t imagine how it would look with our upper-torsos sticking out of it, or held through the groin in a tentacle a-la the mammoth mount. Thank goodness they didn’t go that way with it. >.<
Ugh I literally just got this with a bunch of random people not knowing this restriction… Now I feel like I wasted hours. I really wanted it for the utility…
Not going for it myself… I did get all the monocles except Vasjir, just for something to do, but I can’t imagine competing the final parts in a PUG, and don’t know anyone in game well enough to make my own organized group.
Besides, I don’t really like mounts that don’t actually run with legs/feet in ground mode, so I’d probably use it a couple times, then go back to my default hippogryph… It looks cool, but it’s not worth the hassle to me.
If, in ground mode, if it ran around on it’s tentacles, with splat sounds for each step, then I might go for it.
1# More power to you I’d say, was using “air bus” as a figure of speech, my main contention is that you have to bind the mount to four people, more commitment on a already commitment heavy game IMO.
I always thought it would be nice if you could cram a handful of randos on a mount. Would make wpvp more interesting if you dismounted one person and ended up killing five enemy players. XD
2# A pisstake of fortnite would be top kek, just give the school bus some helicopter blades, a wacky paint job and say it is a wholly gnomish invention for mass transport.
3# That is a especially wonderful idea. Being able to rig any mount for flying areas on your engineer (goblin). Because if you strap on rockets, it will fly won’t it?
