High Elves will not be an allied race since we already have High Elven skins for the Blood Elves so maybe they’re going to put the mount in the Trading Post or on the shop.
High elves are already playable. They’re on the Horde and they have paladins
Blizzard is only releasing skin tones and some hair colors (and I think hairstyles) for the Darkspear trolls we already have. They are not giving us Amani proper. WoWhead has already datamined this information. Unless you’re suggesting they’ll do that and release an Allied Race of Amani? In which case there is no source suggesting that at this time.
They wouldn’t give skins and then give the actual race as allied.
We have what’s been found in Alpha so far. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re still working on the bulkier options
Not a chance.
I would not hold my breath… Why would they waste the time on the appearances for Darkspear at all? That makes no sense. This is a company that in a thalassian based expansion is doing troll customization for a group of trolls that have nothing to do with the ones they’re giving options for but cannot during said expansion give Blood and Void Elves any customizations apparently. lol
Because maybe you wanna play a skinny amani? They’ll most likely add Body 3 and Body 4 options watch
I’m glad you have faith.
Yes because the Amani use the troll rigging already
Realistically the elves as a whole should’ve been neutral entirely in the first place. Their allegiance to either Horde or Alliance is dwarfed by their neutrality and their joining of the Alliance was short-lived and only aligned with the Alliance of old and even shorter than the Horde, and their joining of the Horde was some-what forced.
If body 1 and body 2 were preludes to further body options for races that’d be huge, god I hope.
In a world where TFT wasn’t basically ignored as an inconvenience to the people who wanted the game to be hyperfocused on Orcs vs Humans, Kael’thas could have tried to rally Tyrande and co after the failed invasion of Northrend.
Also dracthyr trueform does have 4 bodytypes.
This thread transcribes the interview word for word. There is literally no mention of body types.
Since the debut of the Amani model in Patch 2.3.0, Blizzard has made four separate passes over Forest Troll areas around Azeroth to ensure they all use the correct model. Forest Trolls have been added in an additional four patches and all use the correct model. In all of this, there’s been one model that’s slipped through the cracks?
There aren’t “skinny Amani” in any meaningful sense. More importantly, if Blizzard were going to introduce “bulky body types” for Trolls, why wouldn’t the Amani NPCs use them? Why go create an entirely separate Amani NPC model, and then tinker with vertices on the Darkspear model to make it bulky? That’s just more work.
They can’t use the Amani NPC model because, as we’ve found out from Wowhead’s Portergauge, the texture files aren’t compatible with player gear.
Not to mention, the Amani models are so distinct from playable Darkspear (Females use an entirely different skeleton), that adding them in any form would be completely unprecedented.
If we have:
-Blizzard making no mention of bulk options
-Amani NPCs not using a tweaked Darkspear Model
-Amani NPC model not being gear compatible
-No precedent for bulking options as would be necessary
do we really need more evidence? Is it actually reasonable to extend charity towards Blizzard as say “well, we probably just haven’t datamined it yet!!”
Even if we don’t receive the bulkier options, that’s fine. I’ll still be happy with what we get. I’m far more excited for Haranir anyways.
(I think they’ll add Drakkari or similar in TLT with bulkier options for sure)
We’re getting a coat of green paint for one of the worst models in the game, which doesn’t even count as a rough approximation of Amani, considering how they’ve consistently been shown for nearly two decades.
Like I said at the beginning, that’s not an Amani.
Yeah, the lorelol race that’s about to impose a retcon. A race so exciting they were sidelined in their own debut expansion. So cool! So much more exciting than the prospect of getting a race that’s been a staple of the Warcraft franchise for decades ![]()
Why would they do this? It’s the same amount of work, but with less tie in. Ice Trolls have not been as consistently bulky as Forest Trolls in their depictions, and Ice Trolls have even less reason to throw in with one of the factions (or both) than Amani.
If Blizzard didn’t take the perfect opportunity and instead opted for “green-skinned Darkspear,” what makes you think they’ll do it for Drakkari where they have even less of a reason?
No, we’re much more likely to get some ridiculous, just-invented-yesterday race as our box feature selling point.
You play a belf DK lets not pretend thou art some bastion of taste
I love how this thread went from coping about high elves (already playable on both sides) to coping about amani (are going to be a baseline troll customization, which is fine, the core troll racials are literally what defined trolls in WC2)
Also belf garrosh stan is in itself a lorelol.
Aren’t you on record as liking Earthen?
Why are you pretending the issue is racials and not the fact that we’ve had nearly two decades of Amani being portrayed as physiologically distinct from Jungle Trolls?
Someone didn’t read “Tides of War” or “War Crimes” and it shows…
Was legit wondering how that happened myself but I’m not going to read 197 replies lol.
Where one group is the other is not far behind.
