High World MS - but not always

I’ve had some issues since Thursday (small hotfix 25JUL). Game starts fine, but then World ms goes up >4000ms sometimes. Not always, just sometimes. It is making the game very unresponsive.

I ran WinMTR with the following results:

The step at 137.221.65.132 looks like the issue. Anybody knows which server is 137.221.65.132 (looking at the internet, it says it is Blizzard in the Netherlands!) Seems that my packets are going all the way from south america to the Netherlands, then to the US West coast!.

Help pls

137.221.65.132 Is located in The US the IP address was registered by blizzard EU. Geo Location sites many times use the Office address of the company that registered it and not it’s physical location.

Was this winMTR taken when you were having a issue? If not run the game along with winMTR . winMTR should be run in 10 minute segments until you have the latency issues.

Thanks for your comment - it was taken when the issue was happening. I also noticed that this also starts happening when I change zones (for example, by hearthing).

I do not think the p[packet loss is actually real. The loss is not actually propagating past these hops if the 15 percent was real all the hops after it would also have a issue. However the connection does have a lot of Jitter.

wired or wireless?
A few things we can try

  1. Reset your user interface to make sure your files and addons are not corrupted.

  2. Reset your network devices to make sure your router hasn’t become flooded with data.

  3. Release and renew your IP and flush your DNS to resolve any network conflicts.

  4. Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues.

  5. If you’re using a wireless connection, optimize your internet connection to rule out a connection issue.

  6. Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.

If those do not work

  1. If you’re using a VPN, try removing it.

  2. Disable any proxies that may interfere with the login module.

  3. Run a security scan to remove any viruses or malware infections.

  4. Update or temporarily uninstall any security programs, which may mistakenly identify the login module as a security threat.

  5. Old firmware on your modem and router can cause issues with complex game connections. Visit the manufacturer’s website for instructions on how to apply firmware updates.

The issue is random.

For example, when it runs well, the readings from winMTR are:

The issue started after the JUL25 minipatch.

I realized other people from my country have the issue (Ability/Loot Lag on North American Servers Despite Normal Latency - see post from Dorimiel)

I reset my UI, run the “Scan and Repair”, reset the network, renewed IP, etc, etc. It is a very high speed connection, wired. No viruses or malware (I have Malwarebyte premium).

The funny thing is that I can type in guild chat!

Definitely an issue from Blizzard side!
