High world latency

I thought I was affected by the level 3 node in Dallas, but today I ran WinMTR, it actually shows that the problem is a blizzard server.

In the above report, I added a 1 after each net, because it didn’t allow to post with links.

Please help.

Thanks.

I have a brand new CPU and monitor Internet is great. I have done everything imagine to stop the high latency that occurs every once a while. It will run great for a while and then all of sudden start acting up.

Tonight, i used my phone as hotspot and actually completed heroic Uldir. Here is the WinMTR report.

it looks terrible, but the game is playable. Now I’m lost.

Thanks.

Don’t be lost. It makes sense. In your OP route, you are leaving qwest and peering with Level3. Those 3 hops on Level3 before it peers with Blizzard are the problem.

In your second route, on the hotspot, you go from Verizon to telia to Blizzard.

I have a question actually, when I do a tracert to 24.105.62.129, the host ae1-br01-eqda6.as57976. net returns an IP address of 137.221.74.33. When you hook to your hotspot, can you do a tracert and tell me what that hosts returns for an IP address for you? You are being handed off to it in both routes, but from different peers. So I am wondering if there is a dns issue with Level3. If you are on your hotspot and get a different IP for that host when you do a tracert, then that is definitely an issue.

edit

Also, when I try to lookup the ip address for ae1-br01-eqda6.as57976. net, I get no records returned. Looking up the hostname of the IP address that the route reports, 137.221.74.33, does report the hostname ae1-br01-eqda6.as57976. net which is weird. The lookup should go both ways. That 137.221.x.x block reports from the UK on geolocation, which doesn’t necessarily mean anything in and of itself, but is also odd.

edit

Also, resolving just the domain name as57976. net points to a US registration under GoDaddy in the 50.x.x.x block. Again, just seems weird.

I got the same IP 137.221.74.33 for ae1-br01-eqda6.as57976. net on hotspot.

I don’t honestly know what a lot of that means but I am definitely having insane latency/lag, all day. It takes me 5 minutes to get past the initial load screen when logging in. Then it’s just serious lag everywhere when I try to play.

Geolocation sites are seriously inaccurate. The Location is based on the office that originally registered the IP address. That is why Many telia IP’s show up as being in EU. some TATA Us nodes show up as India.
