Have been having the exact same problem, in arenas and instances on US servers, my latency shoots through the roof, along with my partners, it’s DEFINATLEY on blizzards end, i also have a few toons on tichondrius, and the latency for both home and world is 300+

I was literally about to post something similar, have the exact same issues and since doing BGs or groups of any kind make us play with the US the game is unplayable. Apparently people been posting stuff for months on the oceanic forums, with no response, if its not fixed I’m going to have to unsub, can’t enjoy this half playable game.
also located in oce, play on a west coast realm. usually sit around 150-160 ms. Literally fine for months, log on today. Ping is floating around 250-500 world MS.

Will add my two cents here - based on US west coast, playing on a US west coast server. About 2-3 weeks ago I upgraded to a new PC with better everything; was playing WoW Classic on my 2015 Mac Air with pretty low latency most of the time (17ms average). But now with the more powerful PC it’s regularly sputtering and stalling, especially in the evenings and during raids.
I’ve contacted IT people who said it’s probably not my hardware; I switched from one wifi network to another wifi network with no change. No cable option available for me, but the real conundrum is why my latency would go up from what it was before - nothing else has changed.
I hope they fix this ASAP, I usually get 200ms on US realms/instances but I am getting 500ms+++ It’s making arena impossible to play.
I was about to make a post and came across this. I’m having the exact same issues. My ISP is Aussie Broadband and I just spoke to them and we did some ping tests and everything is ok from our end. Issue is on Blizzard end.
I went to https://us-looking-glass.battle.net/ and did some testing with my ISP. I’ll paste my traceroute below but for a quick summary we ping both Blackrock US and Tichondrius US servers and here were the results for the same IP

So looks like that particular IP address that routes information back to us in Australia is failing. Hopefully Blizz look into this and fix it as it feels unplayable at the moment since most of the stuff I do is PvP related and on US servers

I’m with ABB too, they had some maintenance yesterday, but only expected outage or issues for max 20 mins. Still doesn’t make sense having 9ms home and 500ms world, so annoying. Hope they can sort this out ASAP.
Just thought I’d add, did a bg to test if it got better, ping spiked to over a 1000 and I got booted from the server, so its not just lag.
Yeah from what I understand it’s def a routing issue from Blizzard side. I tried logging into BETA and got instantly DC’d too. 2nd attempt I was able to get in but even BETA was noticeably laggier than usual. Hopefully a blizz tech sees this and can investigate!!
Yea @menc we have a hop in common that spikes the same ping. Aussie said it isn’t on their end. I’m not sure how accurate the IP geo-location stuff is but the trouble IP comes back as being in amsterdam
This only started today after the reset, wouldn’t surprise me if they stuffed something up with the realm connections lol

Same as me @koalakins. Was fine yesterday and everyday before that. Seems to have started today after server restarts last night. Hopefully someone investigates and we aren’t stuck waiting for next week’s resets in hope that it gets fixed

--------------------~~~~Line 5 ping to 137.221.83.82 is also where the issue spikes for me too. I will post results later when I am able to.
I’ve just been speaking with my ISP Aussie Broadband and they have confirmed that due to an increase in downloads of Microsoft Flight Simulator through the LAX link they only support 10Gbps. They are in the process of upgrading the link to 100Gbps to resolve the issue. There’s a thread on whirlpool forums for anyone that wants to check it out for updates.
Quote from the ABB tech “The USA peering link in LAX has gone back to normal traffic levels for the first time in 48 hours this morning. We’re upgrading it to 100Gbps so when Microsoft release the next patch only served out of the USA it does not impact people.”
Looks like I’m starting to lag again now as a result of increased traffic but hopefully they upgrade the link soon.
Are we sure that’s what is going on here though? I saw those posts too but from my understanding its outside of their network
I’m not 100% sure to be honest. It seemed to work fine for me this morning but then by lunch time the lag kicked in again. I still think its worth Blizzard investigating from their end.
Here is another response from ABB on the issue and what they are doing
Blizzard are bringing up a couple of 100G PNI’s with us in Sydney shortly, I’ve just finished our side of the configuration today and some physical cabling to get patched in hopefully early next week, and then Blizzard to do their side and we’ll have a heap more capacity directly into Blizzard now for the next round of gaming updates 
I am unsure if they’re going to send us additional routes, but it’s very likely we’ll see things like World of Warcraft oceanic realms/instances and other Blizz games route over these new links also.
I’d be keen on some feedback once they’re live.
I guess if this is the issue, then waiting another week or so really sucks
