Being forced to run on a treadmill to maintain rating you’ve already achieved sounds absolutely terrible. It also would do very little since all the rewards are on a full unlock basis except rank 1, and they’re the ones the most likely to keep grinding anyways.
And we see how well that design has worked haven’t we?
Atleast in League your top players are constantly playing to maintain Challenger, but in WoW if you just abuse a broken meta pre nerfs and get to the top, you can sit it practically all season.
Obv things change as time goes on, but there’s no reason to play once you’re at the top since there’s no maintenance of what you want. It’s not like you can get the achievement again, so titles should be required to maintain. Keeps players playing, forces metas to evolve because more people complain, etc…
It’s not like rating decay needs to be for everyone, even just having it for anything above 2400 decaying TO 2400 is enough.
I’d be curious to see participation numbers of past arena, and arena after they made rewards more or less set rating requirements. Rating decay and end of the season percentage based rewards that we had in the past are pretty much one in the same. You couldn’t climb to the gladiator rating early on in the season, then just sit and still expect to get gladiator by the end of it, because there’s an end of season rush of queueing and inflation throughout the season.
Again, for rank one that’s just not true. You aren’t going to be able to get X rating at the start, and sit for the rest of the season, because inflation happens and you’d end up getting outslotted.
given that the only reward is rank one after the 2400 marker, this is already the case.

RSS isnt real pvp. its an ultra dampening game mode with hyper inflated mmr system designed to boost ape dps is essentially a bastardized version of the 3v3 bracket thats existed since TBC

Like it may have a bit of a wonky rating distribution that pushes everybody up but it’s still a neat new idea, especially in regards to access (easy to gear, just queue up).
im not saying its not fun. i am saying it shouldnt be giving out the same exact rewards and titles as 3s with the only exception being glad drake. you shouldnt be able to get elite cosmetics from rss. especially when healers are carrying every game up to 2400 basically

If you’re a better player, you should be higher than that person in both “real brackets” 2s/3s and solo shuffle. Maybe stop looking at a specific rating, use the percentile instead. I’m sure the top top 0.1% of 3s players are all around that range in RSS as well.
Yeah. It’d be less of an issue if it weren’t much easier because that heavily siphons away 2v2 and 3v3 players.
i mean the players i fight at 2k mmr in 3s are better than the 2600 mmr i fight in solo shuffle being honest to god
I don’t doubt that at all. They were most likely on comm which made a lot easier to coordinate CDs. This is what the shuffle lacks and it should stay lacking since it is one of its selling point.
This I agree with. I think they should have a separate set of rewards for it, that way it still incentivizes people to queue for the real brackets as well.

Biggest problem with RSS is it disisentivizes, and deflates arranged PVP. Outside of that, the healer shift every few weeks and Ret comps being the only viable way to play arena are far more detrimental to PVP than a few handfuls of 2400 idiots no one was going to invite to their groups anyway.
It’s pretty luck based.
SS may be inflated, but at the same time, I’m not getting rating stolen by boosters and streamers on a regular basis.
My highest rating is 3110 this season. This is my first expansion playing this game, sorry to burst your bubble about my previous experience.

woah you got me… i bought and logged into the game way back and wasn’t interested.
I sat around on my paladins when they got uber nerfed last time but I’ve only played 3 classes this whole expansion over 6 characters.
I don’t own so many of the disgustingly OP classes that have come and gone BUT this one is an OG in my champ select. I’m enjoying my experience right now, thank you.
