Pretty sure Grandbrae is Alliance through and through.
In either case I am an Alliance main (Fezzy) and I have no desire for high elves beyond what we have now.
Hey!
I think Iām fairly coherentā¦
Sometimes.
Occasionally.
Oh fine you got me.
Four total.
1 portal mage for warfronts, 2 battle mages for a blimp and 1 Vereesa Windrunner who seemingly only showed up to sit on the sidelines while Saurfang confronted Sylvanas.
Vereesa was the only member of the SC and brought no troops.
Unless you count a ballistae of dubious validity.
Iām not sure thatās true.
In WC3 the Alliance retained the priest and sorceresses units even after Kaelāthas breaks off.
It may have just been because there was no divesting the units to make a fifth army of just blood elves (which they technically did in the game files) but it just as easily could have represented some holdouts.
The lore from then isnāt exactly stunningly detailed.
Oh gods Iām so tired of the āAlliance is dyingā rhetoric.
My man, if youāre gonna come at folks for posting on alts your gonna have to post on your main yourself at least. Though, I think you mightāve already received a vacation so you probably wonāt respond.
Well, the story was clear about KaelĀ“thas leaving the Alliance and being absolutely in charge of the Belves. The funny thing in believing those gameplay units can be used as holdouts is that they didnĀ“t keep the name. Nor the lore in Vanilla implies they were THE holdouts that stayed on the Alliance, in Vanilla those Helf NPCs simply appeared in Stormwind et al ājust becauseā and āSilvermoonā Helf survivor faction was made by Farstrider esque units.
Those units staying in āAllianceā can very well be limitations to the gameplay engine -I mean I donĀ“t think Blizzard were aware on how much more popular Warcraft was gonna become post WC3:TFT-.
Regardless, by proxy of leaving this portion of the story āvagueā the devs indeed shot themselves in the foot when they reach the āletĀ“s execute the idea of playable QuelĀ“thalas elvesāā¦ cause now they had the same freaking race in BOTH factions with basically no aesthetical differences whatsoever. And this is a serious issue when designing a product. They duplicated a product and afterwards ofc they found themselves between a rock and a hard place.
I honestly think at the time it was just limitations, but since they are there they could maybe be holdouts. We just canāt say for sure since the lore then was specific to situations not necessarily entire races and such.
The Alliance that assisted the Night Elves and the Horde for instance was mostly survivors from Lordaeron who followed Jaina.
This I think is true.
Adding in the SC just made it all more confusing.
Are the high elves dying out or not blizzard?
Cause fielding armies doesnāt feel like dying.
I also forgot Dragonhawk riders.
Those three feel more truly blood elf though and not as representative of pre-Scar Silvermoon to me.
Ergo, my point about Vanilla retconning big portions of the WC3 narrative.
As I mentioned before, they really REALLY didnĀ“t properly thought thinks through nor analyzed the impact of their āchoicesā in Vanilla. Nor in TBC. They just tried to entice TWO different types of players and have been dragging them by the nose since then, promoting a toxic environment while at it.
Ergo, the point IĀ“ve been trying to ciment in this thread: if Alliance players DO get a functional Belf clone in their faction, then Blizz WILL have to compensate to the Belf players with some VERY exclusive aesthetical choices; something that once again make the Blood Elf gameplay model UNIQUE IN THE GAME, not merely on the faction.
Yup, the other charecter I play regularly is āGreatbraeā a lfd paladin. I do have horde alts, but their purpose was for ah for ours (before ah became server wide) looking and race unlocking.
Void Elves are High Elves though? Especially considering we know they can shift in and out of their Void Form. Them having non-Void options selected doesnāt all of a sudden make them no longer a Void Elf. Their racial abilities donāt change, which still keeps the Void theme.
If you have an issue with having a copy, then start making suggestions on what you want to see added to Blood Elves.
The whole Theramore bit in WC3 is itĀ“s own can of worms when we take into account Jaina -the leader of the city- ended up the game being the ALLY of the Horde and allowing the āAlliance of Lordaeronā character Daddy Daelin- to die. In a way the story actually broke TheramoreĀ“s connection with the old āAlliance of Lordaeronā.
The concept of product design is not something most people probably dealt with on their jobs, so no surprise when they donĀ“t figure out WHY is it a problem in the first place.
I want EXCLUSIVE (means Velves WONĀ“T ever get this accesible) customization options (like eye color, mutation-esque stuff like cute wings or Berserking looks, runic tattoos, etc.) based upon Blood Magic. Cause between ALL the playable races, only Belves are consistently portrayed as dealing with it with NO apparent drawbacks.
They can share some stuff with the MagĀ“har Orcs, but even if this happens is SO much more exclusive for the WHOLE race than niche solutions like āDark Rangersā or āSanĀ“laynā or āLightforgedā (for example one can justify red eyes in āalive skinsā while āDark Rangersā or āSanĀ“laynā only juustify the eyes on undead skins).
It would defeat the fantasy of the race being changed forcefully by a ritual and trying to live with the change. If they had regular elf appearances you throw that fantasy down the garbage shoot.
So oddā¦ donāt tell me you secretly want VE paladins! /joke.
I did do a race change on this toon though, he used to be a worgen, and before that a human.
Oh btw, you should check out frost dk attack animations with scythe (under pole-arms) it looks fantastic!
Itās too bad whenever any of us talks about what we want for void elves helfers come in to talk about how we donāt actually want that stuff and are just awful people trying to hurt others.
if they were āalliance sidedā they wouldnt be free to aid their homeland and the darkspear trolls(the horde) with the amani or join up with the farstriders during legion
i mean lets be real here, they have 2 appearances over 17 years and in both instances they were working with the kirin tor(which they are a part of, they are literally just a sanctioned militia). isle of thunder, the faction you gained rep with was called the kirin tor offensive after all not the sc offensive. npcs included jaina and modera
suramar same shindig, they show up with other kirin tor mages and khadgar
thats it. all theyve shown is they are FIERCELY loyal to dalaran, not the alliance. its almost like that kingdom took them in when their people switched sides and they didnt want to join the horde with them
If they where not alliance side, then they wouldnāt appear in alliance themed events like the pvp weapon appearance in legion, thunder isle, or in wrath representing the alliance in both dalaran and the tournement, would they?
Verressa appears in the alliance pvp weapon apperanceā¦
i mean, she also helped my horde hunter recover allerias bowā¦neither instance compromised neutrality
you are arguing the SC is a dedicated and important part of the alliance because vereesa appears in one scene. while ignoring the fact for this to happen requires an expansion where dalaran/the kirin tor are in play. if this wasnt the case do you really think she would be here? do i really have to point out she doesnt appear in 99% of alliance only cut scenes? that the SC appears doesnt appear in 99% of the alliance quest experience from vanilla to shadowlands
