And Chronicle states explicitly that only Kael’s group tapped fel.

Are we to believe that Chronicle and all previous lore plus Dev statements are wrong and this one book that has several issues including saying blood elves changed their name because of the Alliance written in universe from the perspective of an Alliance leader is right?

I believe Blizzard also stated somewhere that books aren’t 100% canon either, only ambiguously so unless they state otherwise on any specific piece of lore.

… Aethas is Horde aligned… and aligned with Silvermoon. Why would he specifically choose to become a void elf?

While I don’t think ALL High Elves would ever choose to become Void Elves, just because of a political leaning, many would have plenty of reason ranging from interests in the void to wanting the follow in the footsteps of one of their great heroes…

Not really sure why if you can RP a high elf who isn’t a void elf you’d need a separate AR… You’ve got high elves right now available to you in two flavors. lol

Once the Void Elves threw their lot in with the Alliance there was no reason he would become one.

Also from the interest he had I don’t really see him suffusing his being with Void Energies. Studying it sure. But not becoming a Void Elf.

dies a little inside every time someone reminds me of this

There wouldn’t be a problem if Christie Golden either stopped writing Horde, learnt about the Horde or was prosecuted in some kind of witch trial.

I’m really starting to believe Nelfas is a genuinely maestro-level troll who decided to dedicate a fair amount of time in carefully crafting posts designed to make continuing requests for playable High Elves look as self-absorbed and idiotically one-note as possible.

Golden should be legally enjoined from ever writing anything about the Warcraft Universe other than fanfic clearly identified as such.

I think it’s about time for a significant retcon to reconcile the whole Void Elf/High Elf thing. This isn’t, by the way, a new storyboard - it’s something I proposed in the past going all the way back to the VElf release:

Flashback to Alleria and Turalyon who been waging a centuries-long running battle at the head of the Grand Army of Light, and her time with Locus Walker. Enter us, an xpac ago.

Communications finally having been established with our world, and our involvement in that war now as their allies, Alleria issues a call for Vereesa and all remaining High Elves to join her in that war. The Windrunner sisters are successful in their recruiting efforts, The Silver Covenant and every other High Elf adult on Azeroth flocks to her banner to join the war effort.

Nether Prince Durzaan, having watched Alleria’s progress under Locus Walker’s tutelage for years with great interest, decides that these High Elves are the perfect subjects for his plan to create a new Ethereal-like force and crafts a carefully laid out ambush. Lured into that trap, Alleria and Vereesa lead the entire High Elf contingent into a pitched battle against Durzaan’s void forces…an engagement in which the elves believe they have the upper hand.

At a critical moment in the battle the air around the High Elf forces is rent with hundreds of void portals and Prince Durzaan leads an overwhelming force of void beings against the hapless elves. Surrounded and cut off from reinforcements, void magics suppressing all attempts to open portals or teleport away, they are helpless against Durzaan’s rituals as he begins to transform them all into the bodiless beings he longs to create.

At the last minute, our Champion and Turalyon arrive - leading a large contingent of the Army of Light to the rescue and Durzaan’s rituals fail…leaving the former High Elves, transformations into disembodied beings halted at the last possible moment, alive but forever changed. The Void Elves are born.
