I look forward to more top-hats and the various collared vests and coats weâll be getting in Shadowlands (if the Venthyr armors are any indication).
All I say is â MOAR!!!
AhemâŠback on topic.
One possible place for the High Elves to re-settle could be Gilâneas. Alongside the Gilneans and potentially some Night Elves.
It would give them a place to put their Silver Covenant ships (if any are still around from Wrath and Pandaria).
Possibly in a mage quarter part of the Gilnean capital have High Elves and the Night Elf Highborne hanging around (alongside other Alliance mages of course). Scouting southern Silverpine with some Sentinels and Worgen.
Good spot for like a naval themed lodge.
Think Lothern Sea Guard from Warhammer Fantasy.
This is something I completely i understand. I always facepalm any time one of my fellow pro-helfers posts something referring to âtaking over Silvermoonâ or what not. Suggesting nonsense like that just supports the anti- position by outright asking to take something away from Blood Elves.
When I think of âshared themesâ I think of things in a broader way like focusing on the ranger themes that, while given less focus by Blood Elves in game, is still there and something the High Elves can share without really stepping on their toes. I wouldnât refer to them as Farstriders though. That is decidedly a Blood Elf organization even if thereâs some usage of the term by Alliance allied High Elves.
I feel like a High Elf ranger-themed organization would need itâs own name and not just call themselves Farstriders. A new name would be yet another thing to differentiate High Elves from Blood Elves while still sharing the ranger theme.
Every race can be hand waved by Blizzard to be whatever class they deem. No point wondering what classes fit Alliance High Elves. Blizzard likely already has a good idea of what classes theyâd be getting if they ever get made playable.
I personally still think they should get zapped by lightning magic from the Thunder King and become Storm Elves to unlock Shamans.
But Shamans can be explained by Dwarves for High Elves and the Shamanistic Horde for Belves.
You should move Monk up there. There are pretty much set stock of basic classes that every race has access to given the generic fantasy role they play.
Warrior Rogue Hunter Monk. DKs are a given as well but will require time and lore reasons to be made.
Agreed.
Further, I donât think such a focus necessarily removes some classes, such as Paladin.
I havenât seen this but given how often it is mentioned, it must be pretty prevalent.
How much of it is salt mining against Blood Elf fans vs. an actual desire or opinion?
At first I thought you were mistaken.
But youâre correct.
Summoner Nolric.
So far he seems to be the sole exception (whereas there are multiple High Elf Paladins).
FURTHERMORE --> he is one of the few high elves friendly to the Horde when Dalaran is above Karazhan (but this could be a bug!).
I do agree that whatever class trainers we see in the Silver Covenant that are High Elves, those are the ones that should be available.
Druid and Shaman do have minimal basis for being available.
A lot of it was meant to be a thought experiment on what could be playable if there was a push to try and differentiate the Blood Elves and High Elves more.
My position is that such a move isnât necessarily a bad idea and there are story ideas that could be pursued to make such choices make sense in the future (given that, lore as it is now, they do not).
However, if not pursued, then the base classes that make the most sense are:
1.) Warrior
2.) Hunter
3.) Mage
4.) Rogue
5.) Paladin
6.) Priest
AndâŠwellâŠunless we find out something saying Summoner Nolric is the SOLE EXCEPTIONâŠI guess Warlock.
I really donât like the idea of warlock as that seems to go against the grain of one of the BIG REASONS the high and blood elves split. But if he isnât the exception, then that puts such a preference to be just that â a preference.
While itâs good to be cautious I can with confidence that they would be Monks given every other race can.
It seems I have made an error. Apparently Lightforged Draenei cannot be monks, which is quite possibly the most random race exemption I have ever seen.
At the very least all of these. Paladin definitely, but I think they should have another Paladin class race combo for the alliance anyway. High elf and Night elf pally
Depending on the customizations I might be maiming this char or my pally in SL, human customizations have been good, but not as in depth as I would have thought.
And then some people sit back scratch their heads and are surprised so many BE fans tend to be anti HE. That combined with constantly stating their opinions about BEs being on Horde, their opinions they formed solely on ignoring BE story and citing WC2. I donât believe there is any point on deconstructing BE story, unless one hoped to use it in an argument for neutral BEs, or to push BEs out of things that belong to them down the road when HEs become playable.
And unfortunately itâs people like that, where I would say they should share no common themes what so ever and the ones they canât help but share be significantly down played.
I think my whole issue is I would take issue at the ideas that center around HEs feeling claim to BE story. And this is why Iâd vote for Druid and Shaman over Paladin.
Thereâs no way to get around the fact that they will share some things. Thatâs part of what makes their story interesting. Sharing a history canât be changed, and they donât need to be changed to the extent that they have absolutely nothing in common.
So what if if some helf npcs or players want to reclaim quelâthalas? That doesnât mean it would happen, and an in game attempt to do so would lead to the high elves losing and quelâthalas actually getting updated in the process.
Considering the devs feelings on the horde and the corrupt a wish nature of alliance ars this expac, your worries that the alliance will steal anything from the horde are pretty unfounded.
Agreed. I do understand and sympathize with the concern, but I donât see it happening. This seems to be a defensive response based on an intense connection to the Blood Elf storyline.
Which is fine and understandable.
HEâs having Paladin doesnât mean they have claim to the BE story. In fact, one thing thatâs been stated over and over again is the fact that the two types of Paladins are different.
You keep trying to claim otherwise, but the lore is what it is. Just look it up.
