High Elf Customization Request Thread

Yeah dude, we’ve had this back and forth.

Your headcanon about wayfarer NPCs that still maintain the label high elves will continue to be headcanon because even if Blizz said those became void elves, that’s what they’ll be.

They are desperate and tossing things at the wall in hope something sticks, but out of all the dumb things they could do (and I already have a lot of things in mind that I know are most likely happening), changing the tooltip is not one of those things.

No way! A helfer making claims they can’t back up?? I’ve never seen that one before!

:smirk:

I am sadly getting that impression upon reading further down.

That’s ok. My post goes for the OP in that case.

Let me get this straight: You say that Blizzard will do it because you guys ask too much about it and the issue shouldn’t be with you, when the cause nfor it to happen is that you’re asking too much and Blizz will see that?

The thing is simple, you said the cause for HE stuff to be overwhelming the Void Elves is He fans asking a lot. Then you’re the cause. Part of the issue (big one) is with the one causing this. Not like spite or anything, I don’t go that far.

But if Blizz neglects Void Elves for HE, then you’re part of the problem, a big part at that.

There are plenty other with cool hair colors, tatoos, red eyes, etc.

That’s good. You have your right. I’ll be vouching for Void Elves, even in these threads because that way Blizz might see people like actual Void Elves, not more humans.

Like I said, I do understand the desire to play High Elf (As I understand the Horde players’ frustration with this matter too, and very much so.).

My fight is not neglecting the original race. We have enough mages, Paladins and too little Void. And like I said, the last thing we need is more human fans.

I’ll be brutally honest here…

If Void Elves are, ‘destroyed,’ not by the removal of their cosmetics, their racials, their NPCs, or their quests, but solely because of the addition of cosmetics that enable High Elf immersion, then they kind of deserve to be destroyed at that point. It demonstrates what a massive failure in concept they were.

Speaking for myself though, I don’t think Void Elves will be, ‘destroyed,’ by High Elf customization. There are people out there that love the void aesthetic and lore, and they’ll always have the options to play what they like because Blizzard has no precedent for removing customization (and that’s not one they’ll want to start either).

Should the day come that there is not a single active player playing a Void Elf with the void options, then on that day, we can conclude they’ve been destroyed and Blizzard added the wrong Allied Race. I don’t think that day will ever come.

And it’s Callistus doing it too. My reaction below

No sense in trying to reason with some of these people, just to negative, The changes are good, they are coming, and more people are happy with them then the 10 people that always show up to these posts.

The issue you’re running into is that it’s a hypothetical statement in the first place.

A counter argument that your hypothetical statement is based on anecdotal evidence is silly. Of course it is. It’s a hypothesis.

Your other issue is that the anecdotal evidence is pretty strong.

Your last issue is that the anecdotal evidence is pretty strong so the rebuttals are pretty hilarious.

Like, sure, maybe Jeremy Feasel is lying… and maybe the last three years after the announcement of Void Elves was a fever dream… and maybe this Allied Race patch is based on wildly erroneous data.

But… if that’s the case, it doesn’t matter because Blizzard is acting on that wildly erroneous data.

And it doesn’t matter besides. It’s a hypothetical proposition.

Yeah, I was pretty sure since at least 2012.

Of course, VEs didn’t exist back then, but when they were released, I knew that their “destroy anything, it doesn’t matter as long as we get what we want” attitude, would end up affecting VEs too.

And here we are nowadays.

Oh so it’s not just a similar name. It is femur boy.

This is false. The same can be said for any race if Blizz neglects it and focuses on another. Hey, it happens in the Alliance already when Blizz gives much of the screentime to Humans and ruins or literally neglects other races for the protagonists of the faction.

Should every other race be destroyed and just leave humans? No. Far from that. This faction needs diversity,a nd surely Blood Elves who do the same the humans do (Magic, Paladins, Naruu worshipping) is not that diversity, in my opinion.

Just keep bumpin’ the thread man.

It worked for getting High Elf customizations.

They’ve admitted they like drama. They want you to be upset. That’s why they come in here talkin’ about the void elf racial tag. It’s their whole thing.

and now we’ve got blue eyed, fair skinned, fair haired Alliance Elves.

“A few more such victories would have shortly put an end to British dominion in America.”

Or basically what you’re doing is saying that if a band makes a comment after asking for requests of “And before someone says it, I know 'Play Freebird!” Is proof of how beloved that song is.

If humans were the only race being played? I’d argue it’d be evidence of a failure on Blizzard’s part to make the other races interesting and engaging to other players. But this isn’t exactly a great comparison.

Yeah, first time I responded to that character he switched over to Call to chew me out

Except the High Elves are not the only ones being played, Void Elves are played too. And I see many. And not many with pink skin and all that. Real Void Elves. So yes, it is a comparison.

You’re right, I just read we deserve to be destroyed. Imagine having the race with the biggest connection to the Void in a faction that mostly worships light and nature. And neglect it for more magic and light just because.

And people wonder why the Alliance is so boring.

I guess he’s happy now that the femurs of VEs are 100% the same length of the femurs of BEs and can’t help but to flaunt it.

Funny how I mentioned the “Destroy everything…” thing without having noticed the post you just replied to.

Everything shall be sacrificed in the name of the “hIGh ElF IMmerSIon!”.

On no the antis are here to harass and deny more player requests

We’ve seen how popular this request is and we’re adding… :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Pretty sure there were like 10 threads that went over 10k and got closed down too.

Train isn’t stopping at this point. The slow train will become bullet train.

Well, you’re comparing playable races in a faction to customizations defining two races under a single race-umbrella. It’s not the best comparison in that regard.

Anyways, my point stands. If Void Elves are such a flimsy concept that the addition of copy/pasted High Elf assets results in no one playing them, then Blizzard did not do Void Elves any sort of justice as a race to begin with. Let’s not kid ourselves either; Void Elves are hot garbage when it comes to story and lore, and Blizzard has not invested the necessary screen time and narrative focus to make them anywhere near on par with other Allied Races.

Speaking for myself I’d like a lengthy short-story to build up their background, an entire expansion with them in the spotlight and maybe using Telogrus as a capital city for the Alliance, and more clarification on how their culture is developing to be different from Blood/High Elves. They just need more focus in general, and a lot more world building.

But helfer logic says that Alliance is boring due to Horde Bias.

The bland elves are never boring! They’re morally pure and pretty! And they totally have nothing in common with every other elf that has existed in every other franchise since basically forever!

So your plan is, instead, to convince people that they don’t want what they want?

Ok. Here is the issue.

I got a few Void Elves. I’m more than happy with them. I’m not going to ask for more Void Elf stuff.

I don’t dislike Void Elves. I just don’t want to play them.

I do like High Elves. So I’m gonna ask for more High Elf stuff.

Even if you could convince me to change course, which is unlikely, there are others like me on the forums. Even if you could convince them to change course… There are others like them on WoW and Twitter.

Read above.

The thing is. You can’t stop that. You don’t have control over that.

So you could argue with us on the internet a bunch. There’s a certain group of people who have done that for three years. What did it get them?

Nothing.

Yeah. Like I said.

Your best bet is to argue to add a High Elf Allied Race. Because then the Void Elves stop being the vehicle that High Elves are delivered to the Alliance.

This is unlikely to succeed at this point, because they’ve already got customization options and it’s tough to take stuff away from people. Do you just remove all the natural skin and hair colors?

The other good option would be a subrace toggle. But then that runs into the same questions about customization. Can High Elves use purple skin colors?

If there is a race toggle between High Elves and Void Elves does it limit customization options?

If your Blizzard your best bet is to add customizations to cater to both groups simultaneously. Which is a tough proposition for them. But it’s also maybe a failing one. People flipped out over Blood Elf jewelry.

Another issue is that trolls who say things like, “There are no High Elves just void elves.” remarks basically backfire where it just makes people who want to play High Elves request more features.

But arguing against people who want High Elf features is a losing proposition. You’ll just get upset, there will be more vitriol on the forums, but at the end of the day people are going to ask for what they actually want when it comes to customization options.
