“They’d bring nothing new.”

Indeed, they’d bring something that is missing.

“New” is not the same as “good”. Classic things, however, have been tried and approved.

Whoever is doing this is a hero. I am sick of threads like these. Megathreads=Petition threads in disguise.

High Elves shouldn’t be added. Blood Elves should have been Alliance from the start.

After the next horde / alliance “Peace expansion” they need to shuffle the factions or make more than 2, maybe 3 or 4 will be needed.

OP is a hero. I don’t think I have ever seen someone so dedicated. The fact that the last thread capped should be proof enough to the devs that we want High Elves.

I’m going to be the devil’s advocate and simply leave this here:

For nearly 7,000 years, high elven society centered on the sacred Sunwell, a magical fount that was created using a vial of pure arcane energy from the first Well of Eternity. Nourished and strengthened by the Sunwell’s potent energies, the high elves’ enchanted kingdom of Quel’Thalas prospered within the verdant forests north of Lordaeron.

During the Third War, however, the high elves were nearly scoured from Azeroth. Led by the death knight Arthas, a Scourge army stormed into Quel’Thalas, slaughtering almost ninety percent of the kingdom’s population. Arthas then used the mystical Sunwell to resurrect the fallen necromancer Kel’Thuzad, irrevocably tainting the fount in the process.

Fearing that the befouled well would obliterate his dwindling race, Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider gathered a group of Quel’Thalas’s defenders and destroyed the fount to avert catastrophe. Although the high elves were spared from continued exposure to the Sunwell’s dark energies, in the fount’s absence they suffered terribly from withdrawal. As a result, Kael’thas desperately searched for a means to help his people—whom he had renamed the blood elves—and thus he set out for the shattered world of Outland. There he allied with the renegade demon Illidan Stormrage in the hopes of finding a cure for the blood elves’ crippling withdrawal.

Kael’thas had assured his people that one day he would return to Quel’Thalas and lead them to paradise, yet time revealed that his promises were nothing more than lies. On Outland, the prince became twisted due to his reliance on fel energy, the dark and corrupting essence wielded by the demonic Burning Legion itself. Unbeknownst to Illidan, Kael’thas also came under the sway of the Legion’s commander, Kil’jaeden.

At the bidding of his new master, the wayward prince eventually returned to Azeroth and seized the site of the Sunwell, hoping to use the fount as a means to usher Kil’jaeden into the world. Ultimately, Kael’thas was slain before his recklessness could bring ruin to Azeroth. In the wake of Kil’jaeden’s defeat, the draenei prophet Velen purified the Sunwell with the Light-infused heart of a fallen naaru, transforming the fount into a source of both holy and arcane energies.

Inspired by the Sunwell’s rebirth, the blood elves have since entered into a shining new era in their ancient race’s history. Although some elves remain hesitant to abandon their dependence on arcane magic, others have embraced change for the betterment of Quel’Thalas. Yet only time will tell if the blood elves can avoid repeating the tragic mistakes of their past.

TLDR;

Kael’thas renamed his people, the High Elves TO the Blood Elves.

End of discussion. :exploding_head:

Im flattered, but no. The High Elf Community is dedicated. The thread wouldn’t of been possible without everyone elses help. Praise should go to them too, couldn’t have whipped this thread up on my own .

Yeah and Humans call themselves Kul Tiran Humans cause they founded a new nation.

Yet they’re also an allied race.

We’ve suggested many lore friendly ways in which they could be made different with some model mockups as examples. Most of us don’t want just Blood Elves with blue eyes on the Alliance

I understand the technical part, especially if we’re talking about copy/pasting Blood Elves to the Alliance, but lore sense? High Elves are already on the Alliance

And Blizz would like feedback and ideas for future allied races. Nothing wrong with at least suggesting High Elves, they’d clearly be a popular option as well

This part is a little strange, considering you’re posting on an elf (I’m assuming this isn’t your main though). People who really want to play elves will play elves. I have a brother who loves playing Dwarf toons, he isn’t suddenly going to drop them if another elf race is released. All that would happen if High Elves were to be added is the reduction of the amount of Night Elves, Void Elves and maybe humans we’d see running around. The game would be far from “World of Elfcraft”

Based on concept art for Alliance races in vanilla, both High Elves and Half Elves were planned. They were both dropped for Gnomes though.

+1 support as always

But wow, flagged already?! Good lord people, don’t be so quick to abuse the report function!

You’re talking about people who report posts that have the faintest bit of questionable things in them.

Do people really think Blizz would do a new model if they ever decided to add HEs? Hate to break it, but it would be the same model as BEs…cause BEs are HEs.

I doubt people necessarily care about the model. The idea is that most would be OK with a different model if necessary.

Why couldn’t they be different? There’s some believable lore friendly justification to them haveing an altered model, and it would be beneficial from a gameplay perspective so High Elves don’t step on the toes of Blood Elf players

Well I would have agreed with you until I skimmed through the OP.

They COULD be different. But blizzard isn’t going to put any effort into making them so they wouldn’t be different (also blizz has said that BEs are HEs).

Yep.

And if anyone bothered to read my post above or simply look up the Blood Elf Race page on this same very website folks… you’ll realise… that the Blood Elves ARE High Elves.

The OP is just suggestions, theories, and thoughts.

I sincerely doubt Blizzard developers will actually use the ideas to the letter.

High Elves are just Blood Elf Refugees that stayed with the Alliance after their home country fell.
