High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

There is a difference between loving to argue and actually caring if you get the elves.

You know, the more this keeps going the more I want High Elves, they are justā€¦ Natural.
I tried playing Void Elf, but they are just lackluster, for roleplaying you are stuck with a elf that keeps hearing whispers of the void all the time, you canā€™t be just an adventurer, you have to be a race that messes with powers that can bring their destruction at any point, transmog-wise it sucks being stuck with only cold colors, want to use a green, red, yellow and so on? Good luck not looking completely off.

As for why on Alliance? They just feel natural on the Alliance, you know, humans, dwarves, high elves fighting together, even the aesthetics fits compared to seeing Ogrimmar filled with elves in skimpy clothes.

Thats exactly why they wanted to break the mould/cycle whatever.

Iā€™m sorry is Kizzan telling people off for alt hopping?

Yup, cause he doesnā€™t alt-hop, been Cezol for a loooooong time.

He also doesnā€™t do it to trick people into talking to them.

But antis do hold grudges for awhile :man_shrugging:.

The thing is that I wouldnā€™t mind the void elves as much if they had actually taken the time to give us some story before they just threw them our way. Lightforged are the same, but at least they appeared before they were announced.

They come off as such a rushed race and a missed opportunity, because they could have just given us high elves with a void racial if they were that set on that idea. Thatā€™s all Alleria is :woman_shrugging:

My void elf lock does look good in T2 though.

I love debating. I like the idea of testing the strength of my argument against the arguments of others. But I also like to learn. That said, I also love Elves too

  1. As I said, it doesnā€™t matter how lazy you perceive the addition to be. A whole bunch of people were asking for Highmountain Tauren, either as a customization option or a completely standalone race ā€“ precisely nobody was asking for Void Elves.

  2. Itā€™s worth mentioning, because those against implementing playable High Elves love parroting this line as if it cannot be responded to, that in receiving the Nightborne the Horde effectively received a duplicate of the Allianceā€™s second most popular race.

And I know what youā€™re going to argue is, ā€œwell, at least the Nightborne got a little bit of tweaking to make them slightly more distinct from your standard Night Elfā€.

Wonderful, all weā€™re asking for is that exact same treatment for High Elves on the Alliance.

Well, as discussed, precisely nobody wanted Void Elves to begin withā€¦ because they didnā€™t exist.

That people come to enjoy something later on, has nothing to do with whether or not they wanted it to begin with ā€“ Blizzard has a terrible track record of giving the Horde exactly what they ask for, while taking the things the Alliance requests and tasking their least creative employees with re-imagining them.

The irony being that virtually every fantasy-based RPG in the last 20-25 years has done the same thing.

Eh, Iā€™ll admit itā€™s my opinion, but theyā€™re just pretty much the Tauren with antlers and some paint (I put the Magā€™har and LFD in the same category too) I mean maybe if they gave them a moose head itā€™d be something else, but I really feel like the Alliance made out better, the VE and DID got the cool hair effects, I actually like the KT and have some ideas for one if I ever feel like leveling up on Alliance (and dammit why isnā€™t the Haliscan set moggable)

Meh, Iā€™m a bit irked with Tauren this expansion, Iā€™m not happy with HMT being the way they are, the Heritage quest has nothing to do with Heritage like the Dwarf and BE ones do (since that would require blizz writing Tauren lore) it was just ā€œKill voidy things than an elder says some nice things about you at the endā€ and when the reveal came out that Azeroth was a female titan there was NOTHING from Tauren at all, instead the dwarf king we lost Cairne for comes back and takes over it.

Itā€™s all just opinion on who got it better, what I think is worst and best isnā€™t going to be what anyone else thinks, and itā€™s ridiculous to try and make it sound like itā€™s a fact that one side made out better than the other. Grass on the other side of the fence and all.

No kidding. When people were talking how cool the races would be, I was expecting Alliance to get the Broken and Lightforged being a Draenei customization through a questline and high elf being the equivalent to Nightborne since all the other elven races that were present in the retake of Suramar were already playable.

But then, Blizzcon came andā€¦ Void Elves and Lightforged for the Alliance and Highmountain and Nightborne for Horde.

Honestly, out of all of these, just void elves made me upset, all the other races we met and interacted with, void elves came out of nowhere and when I actually tried them out and realized most hairs clip with their own heritage armor + they look horrible into every warm color, all the little love for the race I had was gone.

Thatā€™s what void elves are.

I donā€™t care that you didnā€™t approve of them, they were made to try and fulfill the request for high elves, if HMT are supposed to satisfy the requests for a pure cosmetic option than Void Elves satisfy the request for HE the exact same way. Imperfectly and unsatisfyingly.

vitaminsee here, is from back on the very first high elf AR thread on the old forums. man alot of people were happy and mad at her for wanting high elves on the alliance. i think midare being one that was mad that i especially remember. if i recall, it was all the gloating after ion said, no, or not yet anyway. ya wanna a high elf play horde. etc etc (paraphrased) oh antis danced on our guts, hung our entrails from the forum rafters and took pot shots at them. it was ugly.

The heritage chain aggravated the hell out of me. I jumped through all of their hoops to even qualify for the quest (total bs that gnomes got it on day 1), and it was so underwhelming. Itā€™s a shame, because I genuinely enjoyed the blood elf one.

Oh, I left out that bit, I ended up waiting until the last patch because I just never felt like waiting for the queue for the raid.

Well, they were an attempt at it, I think the worse part is that they made the void elves first generation, the one where yours most likely come from, a blood elf exile rather than a high elf. I have no idea why players and devs alike are so against making an already established race of a certain faction playable, just like Ogres for the Horde.

its interesting how different people interpret ARs. like that video i linked you, she loved the male hmt and planned on making a male hmt warrior. she had the mog already figured out and everything lol

noo void elves are blood elves (yes i know they are all high elves but blood elves dont call themselves that. i ferget, why did void elves change their name? i know blood elves did because of the scourge genocide. wasnt it kaelā€™thas that renamed them?
