High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

That’s not what race is. Darkspear Trolls and High Elves are not the same race. They simply share a common ancestor.

But the liberals and republicans are different races completely.
its even on every birth certificate

Well, you’ve got me there.

He ruled them out for BFA. We’re hoping High Elves come in sometime post-BFA.

No, but Indians and Pakistanis are different. Americans and Britains are different.
Culture divided them. Just like blood elves and High elves.

and that has both been a lot longer than the split in the game state wise, and mainly race wise.
Its been like 2 years to an elf?

there is a time for hope and there is a time when you have to come to terms with things. the reasons he gave for ruling out high elves are not temporary and they wont go away by the time of the next expansion. or the next one etc

this is over. people can still ask, but its not going to change anything

Time is irrelevant. Night elves become High elves in one boat ride from Kalimdor to Eversong forest

Then went onto explain that their relation to magic and the Sunwell is different, aka their culture.

The if comment about playing a fair skinned elf was more towards people not wanting to play Void Elves, which is what the question was also about.

The question was not “Can you do High Elves instead of Void Elves?”.

But given that they said Fair Skin is possible for Void Elves we know it is not a major factor.

Before saying anything is possible in the future. Meaning that anything is possible in the future.

They have different Cultures, Ideals, Skin/Hair/Eye Colors, Ideals, Relation to the Sunwell, History, and Factions.

Saying they are identical is just a straight up lie and even goes against what Ion said.

They are his closing thoughts on the subject.

You don’t add “Anything is possible in the future” if you want to give a straight up no.

It being the closing thought frames the entire sentence. Just because you dissagree with it and it made the answer -

-doesn’t make it any less important or true.

Except that’s not what he actually said and you know it.

It’s going to happen one way or another.

Clearly it was in sarcasm, jesus.

Suggesting your faction has them. Funny.

so the name change was to signify a recognition that things wont be the same for the high elves anymore. but in every important aspect, culture, theme and even biology they are the same people now as they were before arthas

they are still elves. they still make pilgrimages to the sunwell. thematically they are the standard tolkien style elf trope with a warcraft spin. ion confirms that just because they changed their name, it doesnt mean they arent high elves

importantly, it just reaffirms that the difference between the blood elves and the 6 alliance high elves left is eye color, an adjective and an ideology

What does anyone elses hope have to do with you exactly?

If you are so sure that it wont ever happen then why are you desperately saying the same thing over and over?

This is the internet. If you don’t follow it up with a /s (and some even then) people will most likely take you seriously

They share none of those.

I get that you want to play the only fair skinned Elf, but saying there aren’t other differences is disrespectful to the entire Blood Elf story.

Good thing the Blood Elves became Fel Corrupted and Biology isn’t the only way things can be different.

That’s not important given that there’s more varieties then you can count on two hands.

That’s likely not true anymore given that in the two most recent showings of the Sunwell no High Elves can be seen.

And even if it where still true it’s not a major factor. And their relation to it is not the same as the Blood Elves. (According to ion)

But still a different type then the Blood Elves.

That’s not a problem at all. All Allied Races are already the same race as existing races.

No it doesn’t.

It’s like you weren’t even paying attention to what he said. The only direct comparison was Skin Color and that was latter shown not to be an issue by another Dev.

And saying there are only 6 to try and get a reaction is childish. I would advise against doing that.

No, I’m guessing they were disbanded.

not counting neutral kirin tor mages there might be 6-12 left in current content. and yes i am using bourbons what is displayed in game view is the only thing that counts

as for your interpretation regarding blizzards official statements on the matter, it all boils down to a simple truth. high elves arent playable on the alliance because they are playable on the horde, no matter what they now call themselves. void elves are the attempt to give the alliance something like a blood elf, which is a high elf yet has its own flavor and doesnt step on blood elf toes

Nope, they were fine in Legion. They even helped rebuild the weapon atop the Violet Citadel (after yet another treason of one of their own) in 7.2.

If you fly there in Legion!Dalaran, you’ll see them.

That doesn’t really mean anything though so it’s a moot point.

All you where doing was baiting.

They aren’t playable because they haven’t been made playable yet.

The Blood Elf fantasy is not the High Elf fantasy, otherwise we would be happy with Void Elves who are literal Blood Elves.

Not according to Blizzard who said they made them because they wanted something new and Unrecognizable.

And High Elves don’t step on Blood Elves toes in anyway given how different they are.

So I guess you’re for void elves getting high elf customization then?

the fact you are for this just proves it was always about light skinned elves, not the lore
