High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

I didn’t write all that out, lol. I was merely pointing out, there’s an opposing thread.
I myself actually made a thread of my own, saying we should mark Blood Elves and Void Elves with customisation options for High-Elven features.

Blood Elves simply in the barber shop, and Void Elves have the same to go with a toggle off / on like Worgen do, showing their green or blued non-voidy features - Considering that Alleria Windrunner can do so …

But there’s so much toxicity, you can imagine how that suggestion turned out …

Touche

Well this is blatantly false.

This simply isn’t true. They all became Blood Elves. There wasn’t a schism until after they went to Outland and started sucking magic out of living creatures. The Blood Elves(with Kael) never turned on the Alliance until after returning to Azeroth. The WHOLE race was renamed just after the fall of Quel’ Thalas.

Uh, Night Elf mages have been around for nearly a decade now. We also have Void Elf mages. I think Alliance elven mages are covered already.

Night elf mages are shunned.
Void elves are an abomination, they’re ex-blood elves, they got introduced over actual magi from kirin tor, the silver covenant mages.

While I agree with this, the Shen’Dralar should look like Nightborn with the erect ears and whatnot. They shouldn’t look like regular Night Elves.

I disagree. Lydon himself is a fine fellow, the purpose of his thread is no make Blizz aware of the concerns some people have wiht the idea of playable High Elves, since they’re now a real possibility

I may disagree with him on a few things, and there’s definitely been trolls plaguing the Helf community, but the intentions of that thread by itself are not to belittle us

My favorite part of the thread is that it provides me with a place to go and speak to more of the anti’s since many of them won’t engage in conversation here anymore (and vice versa)

The pro side does this as well.

So are Void Elves.

You realize this goes both ways.
I advise not demonizing people with diffrent opinoins and arguments to the point of false flagging

Both threads have been through the wringer and is apparent that forum mods dont mind both exsisting

Oh new thread! Jolly good!

Here I am, posting my support again. High elves please!

It must be stated though, I don’t agree with all the ideas. The same body as blood/void elves will do just fine thank you. And some of those hairstyle suggestions are just awful. The warpaint looks dope though.

Nice to see the megathread up again.

My full support as always. For the Quel’dorei! For the Alliance!

The whole timing around Kael returning to Silvermoon and declaring the High Elves as Blood Elves, as well as the subsequent reconstruction period of Silvermoon is a bit of a gray area lroewise, with a lot of vague and sometimes contradictory statements, so it’s a bit of a mess.

However, the long and the short of it is that when Kael did go back to Silvermoon and declare his people Blood Elves, any High Elf who hadn’t returned to Silvermoon at that point was on prety shaky grounds in terms of their citizenship status, so to speak.

Basically, if you didn’t come home when Kael’thas called everyone home, then you had some serious explaining to do. And Elves being Elves, most of those reasons were seen as a betrayal of Quel’Thalas and Silvermoon, and those elves were disowned from the Blood Elf name, remaining High Elves. It sort of became a title of exile and betrayal - as a High Elf, you were essentially declared a dead relic of a past that the Blood Elves shed in order to achieve new glory.

There’s also the Alliance Rangers on Outland that had joined Alleria in the expedition through the Dark Portal, but they were declared for the Alliance and chose to remain that way.

So, yes, technically Kael did rename his entire race in principle, but he also made being a High Elf a title of exile pretty much immediately as well, so those High Elves that didn’t go home effectively remained High Elves - and anyone who put anyone else’s needs above the future of Quel’Thalas, or questioned its leadership? Well, they were effectively exiled and slapped with that title, too.

The discussion would be better if we just stopped acusing who’s doing what on the other side.

Let’s talk high elves!

I am working on nature inspired tattoos for my drawing, since she is a quel’danil ranger. I was thinking a vine look, or maybe leaves or flowers. Feather based tattoos would be cool too I think, but that could easily get too complex.

Congratulations for the people who kept asking for Vanilla servers in the past, you are the ones responsible for Blizzard doing Classic. I only started playing on Legion, but i played the stress test and i loved it, really excited when the full game releases.

If Classic fans made Classic happen, well the High Elf fans can make High Elves happen.

If anything most of the ideas are to suggest that people would be fine if they were different, they’re not necessarily representative of exactly what everyone here wants

I think it’s important to note this, yeah. All of that concept work at the top? The artwork, and write-ups and proposals?

That’s effectively the High Elf people saying to those who think High Elves and Blood Elves are too similar, ‘We hear you. So here’s some ideas on how we can fix this in order to broaden that divide, create a unique identity, and still fulfil that core desire to make High Elves a playable race.’

They gave Nightborne to the Horde - same character model and skin tones as Night Elves (the opposing faction) and who are a small fragmented group. They should have just given Alliance Silver Covenant elves at the same time. It would have been an equal swap. And they could have made slight modifications to differentiate them from Horde Blood Elves - posture, tattoos, etc. Plenty ideas have been mentioned many times already.

Void Elves were something they made up for who knows what reasons and are comprised of an even smaller number of elves than Alliance High Elves. Their introduction weren’t a solution but have actually made things worse imo.

I am not someone who started in Vanilla, nor have I been clamoring for HEs but I do support those who want them. Allied races was the perfect opportunity to give players something they’ve been asking for since before BEs were introduced jut as Horde players were given something they’ve been asking for for a long time in Mag’har Orcs. The reasoning (mainly not enough population and not wanting to give the other side same/similar looking models) for not giving Alliance HEs is flawed since there are races with even smaller populations that have been made into ARs and they did not apply the same logic about appearance when giving the Horde purple elves.

adding a duplicate of a core horde race to the alliance undermines the boundaries between the factions. as blood elves are high elves, high elves are playable

as it has been established time and time again that alliance high elves are identical to blood elves except in their politics, they are functionally a duplicate of an already existing race

thats why they gave alliance void elves as a compromise
