Hey mon, what ever happened to the Scarlet Crusade?

They were in Naxx and that’s it, Scarlet Monastary was a good 5 man

I think they pretty much disbanded after the SM story/dungeon revamp in MOP

They got a good set-back in Icecrown as Scarlet Onslaught. And we attacked them again in MoP. Not sure they’re technically around.

Why? I don’t know much about lore, and where are they in mop? I faintly remember scarlet crusade in mop in the questing lands

This is a good place to start:

the two dungeons at SM got revamped in MoP.

The short version is that their members and leaders have been slaughtered many times over. More than one of their leaders have been unmasked as dreadlords in disguise. At multiple points it was stated that the entire order had been essentially exterminated, only for a few survivors to claw their way back up and rebuild.

Or, to be put it another, what happened to the Scarlet Crusade? Us.

If I remember right you see Scarlet Pilgrims in the Priest order hall so I guess they’re still around and probably less crazy now that they’re around better influences.

Only because the priest rescues the less crazy crusaders who have been imprisoned by the crazy crusaders for not being crazy enough.

They had a bit of a longer history than just Scarlet Monastery and Naxxramas:

  • They were present as major zone villains in Tirisfal Glades, both before and after Cataclysm.
  • They also were a major threat in the Western Plaguelands, where they were largely led by Tirion Fordring’s son, Taelan, from Hearthglen. We helped Tirion convince his son to turn away from the corrupt Crusade, only for Grand Inquisitor Isillien to kill the boy.
  • They had a major presence in Stratholme, with Grand Crusader Saidan Dathrohan - a disguise for Balnazzar - as one of the two final bosses of the dungeon, alongside Baron Rivendare.
  • During Naxxramas’ original run, a truce was called between the Argent Dawn and the Scarlet Crusade, with members from both parties congregating in Light’s Hope Chapel to organize the strike on Kel’Thuzad.
  • According to the World of Warcraft Comic, the living Darion Mograine was the one to retrieve the Corrupted Ashbringer from the body of his father, Alexandros Mograine, in Naxxramas. Darion brought the sword back to the Scarlet Monastery, where his brother (as well as their father’s murderer), Commander Renault Mograine, beat Darion mercilessly for bringing the blade there. Upon this, Alexandros’ spirit emerged from the blade, killing Renault.
  • The Crusade is the main enemy (or rather victim) of the Death Knight starting experience. The Knights of the Ebon Blade, operating from Acherus under the control of the Lich King, terrorize and decimate their forces in the Scarlet Enclave. But an offshoot of Crusaders, led by High General Abbendis, make sail for Northrend.
  • This new Scarlet Onslaught under Abbendis and the recently returned Scarlet hero, Admiral Barean Westwind, formed New Hearthglen in Dragonblight. Abbendis was killed under the order of the Argent Crusade/Forsaken. The Onslaught also constructed a harbor in Icecrown, where Admiral Westwind was unveiled as dreadlord Mal’Ganis, seeking revenge on Arthas after their last encounter.
  • After the Lich King’s death, Tirion Fordring - now Highlord of the Argent Crusade - returned to Hearthglen and drove out the weakened Crusade. After being unmasked before, Balnazzar proceeded to kill all the Crusaders in Stratholme and Tyr’s Hand (including the ones who had assisted the Argent Dawn in attacking Naxxramas), and raised them as undead thralls.
  • On a minor note, the late daughter of a Scarlet High Priest, Lilian Voss, was raised by the Forsaken. Initially rejecting undeath, Voss was captured and sentenced to death by her own father. Voss however escaped, killing her father and starting a blaze of glory, slaughtering any and all Crusaders she found.
  • In the Scarlet Monastery, [Alliance] a rebellious Scarlet named Joseph saw through the corruption of the Crusade and sought to redeem them, but slowly lost his mind as he was forced to kill his old brothers in arms. [Horde] Dark Ranger Velonara led a Forsaken strike force through the halls to end the Scarlet threat.
  • However, the strike on the Monastery was merely a setback, with High Inquisitor Whitemane reviving after the attempt on her life. However, a Hooded Crusader - later revealed to be Lilian Voss - organized a strike team through the Monastery, slaying the higher-ups and Whitemane once again.
  • Come the Third Invasion of the Burning Legion, the Ebon Blade, in search of a new Four Horsemen, sought out the corpse of Whitemane for their Third. Under the command of High Commander Michael Goodchilde, the remaining Crusaders attempted to defend their Monastery, but the Deathlord, Thassarian, Nazgrim, and Thoras Trollbane obliterated them until “every last crusader had been killed and every banner burned.” Goodchilde was slain, and Whitemane was raised as a death knight. In undeath, her madness was cleared, and she gladly served against the Burning Legion willingly.
  • Meanwhile in New Hearthglen, a priestess named Mariella Ward openly rejected the corrupt Onslaught, turning a number of Crusaders - now Apostates and Heretics - away from the order. The High Priest of the Conclave saved her and them from execution, and slew the remaining Crusaders there. Following this, these Crimson Apostates returned to Netherlight Temple to join the Conclave in hopes of redemption, with Ward serving as one of the High Priest’s champions. Some can even be seen wandering Dalaran’s streets.

After that, there’s no indication that the Scarlet Crusade has been anything less than wiped out.

Just wanted to add to this. The reason the Scarlets have been so hard to stamp out for good is that Whitemane had incredible talent in regards to resurrection. To the point where she could somehow resurrect herself if she died. Thus, she would revive and proceed to revive the slain Scarlets.

The reason Whitemane finally died for good (at least before being raised) was that Voss had us impale her with two supposedly very powerful runeblades known as the Blades of the Anointed. For some reason, these blades severed her ability to self-raise, putting the Scarlets onto their last legs.

There might be a couple holdouts in New Hearthglen and perhaps Onslaught Harbor. However, their leadership seems utterly decimated at this point.

They’re gone until Blizzard decides to bring them back again.

Somewhere a few scarlet crusaders open their wardrobe to stare longingly at the crimson tabard buried deep beneath their other belongings.

Whatevers left of the scarlet crusade is dregs at this point.

Also this, I’m sure they’re on the backburner of Island Expedition Bad Guys™.

As the lore would go the Stratholme chapter was decimated by adventurers, the group by Light’s Hope Chapel was wiped out by Arthas’ Death Knights (Including YOU oh Death Knight player : ) The survivors of both regrouped as the Scarlet Onslaught and made their last stand in Northrend.
