And my point is that this is just not acceptable for the Horde’s most important perspective. We are fundamentally divorced from our motivations, or any opportunity to reject or accept Sylvanas’ aims - we don’t know her purpose.
I get the in-lore rationale, but from a structure perspective it’s atrocious that we are alienated from our Warbringer and the characters who are meant to be opposing her are so absent or unable to champion Horde values.
Sylvanas in Cata had an entire sequence devoted to her explaining her position to the player, and quests that detailed her relationship with her Forsaken. Even if you think those were mistakes and/or don’t reflect her true thoughts, the writers know how to get her in a situation with the player where she can show some cards. Jaina has entire quest-lines devoted to allowing the player to align with her as the vehicle of their faction arc. I don’t want them to not have those - I don’t even want to match that in some petty scorekeeping regard. What I want is to have Sylvanas fleshed out as an entity and not as a plot item.
Saurfang’s absence is also a writer’s sin, but ‘I hoped you would stop her’ and ‘I want my Horde back’ aren’t (as much, it’s all bad writing in the end).
