Heroic World Tier is a Big Win

yes!!! I love this option & idea soo much. as someone who has always loved the leveling process in MMOs, what I am seeing right now in legion remix is amazing. currently switched over to an assassination rogue on hard mode and am having a blast. while I can pull a few enemies at once, I actually have to CC & pop evasion/cloak just to survive. it’s a much more engaging experience.

hope that blizzard decides to revitalize leveling in the future, as it’s currently an afterthought in current retail.

some of it really is, and i’m not sure what the scaling is.
in highmountain the nessingway quests to kill a cat a bird and a moose. the bird and moose fell over within 1 round of cds. the cat i was just beating on for at least 4 minutes.
also the murkky quest where you control the murloc required me to go clear the way and then mind control and run him in, because one empowered mob just kept one shotting him, while nothing else did even 10% of my hp.

I think this is what will happen. Blizzard doesn’t like giving players leveling options. This will be standard, and players will have no choice.

I don’t know what you’re doing, but some of the affixed elites will absolutely eat players alive in hard mode

Yeah some stuff is like, exceedingly spongey. Numbers are ofc irrelevant but I think some creatures accidentally had maybe 4x too much hp.

It was also pretty strange during highmountain to be killing tauren and drogbar that had 4.9m to 6m hp, only to then queue up for a regular dungeon at my exact same combat level (lair of neltharion) and see the trash in the dungeon have 5-9m hp when scaled for 5 people.

Just some thoughts.

Idk I somewhat doubt it, as much as the game mode feels…healthier and more holistic.

I think blizzard has learned to cater to the playerbase which mostly likes endgame so, I think we will get more of the same of what we have had, with options for players who want it.

This, ironically, i think might just make more problems than making it base line though. Look at war mode. People HATED every time warmode was perceived as being the ‘better’ or ‘more efficient’ way to level or do world quests, cited feeling forced etc.

I fear the same may happen in heroic open world if the rewards end up being more efficient.

I think it’s a test case intended to determine if making world content harder will push casuals into gitting gud.

I was smashing everything and got one shotted by a giant yellow tree and was like WTH was that :flushed::joy:

I dont necessarily think it necesarily is hard enough to push or necessitate casuals to git gud, but i am admittedly not a casual and already good, so i would really be curious to see the opinions of self identified casuals on this topic.

Between the fact that a fair number of players who seem to think they are good are saying they’re getting one shot or taking a long time to kill certain mobs, and that trying to force casuals to git gud has always been a complete failure, I’d guess if that’s Blizzard’s goal they won’t achieve it.

Sure, that seems like a pretty fair assessment.

To talk about certain mobs taking a long time, when I personally encountered this it felt like an outlier/abnormality, something gone awry and not intended.

Self described good players reporting deaths and long fights as feedback makes me even more interested in what self described casuals think of it all, though.

Hard sometimes to get that kind of insight though because in my experience many self described casuals are really…not.

Especially when the power ups happen to hit a quest target. It’s rough. At this point, I will probably get my general questing done in normal mode and then my endgame farming/grinding in heroic since I am finished leveling for now.

dunno if someone answered this but ive been told that its around 500% more resource and stat gains. and after killing and getting about 50+ bronze instead of 7 bronze ill say its true.

It’s been mayhem so far, I kind of love it. Though it shares the same problem that other “hard” solo content does on Retail (t11 delves).

It’s basically a free ride for any kind of tank. Which is helpful for my mage, just look for the tank slowly eroding a pile of mobs and get my tag. But they really need to think of some way to keep tanks awake at the wheel in this kind of content

Yeah, any exp boost would just serve to negate the longer TTK or whatever.

If it’s something they’d want to encourage people to do, it’d have to be like Heritage Armor used to be – give people a title or mount or something for leveling in that mode without boosting, to give people, especially those who already have everything leveled, an excuse to interact with it.

That said, personally I’d actually like the opposite. Instead of making it slightly harder but roughly the same speed but with a shiny reward at the end, make it harder, make it SLOWER, and have it there as an option for players who actually want to have a leveling journey instead of just blasting through to endgame.

Leveling is too fast now and that will still be the case even if we’re in a mode where things die slower.

Honestly this could be the best alternative, though i think, like battlepets and archeology, it wouldn’t really be that played. Not sure low playability features are the best thing for the game.

Could do it like ruthless mode in path of exile, make it a real journey with some cool achievements. Sort of a combination of your ideas

I love when it isn’t in heroic slow-motion mode.

I do not need my looting process to be that intensely epic.

I’m kinda lukewarm on heroic world tier. It’s not really more fun, it’s just longer. I think if they’re going to bring it to retail, it needs to have fewer health and damage buffs and more actual mechanics. More buffs or cast timers or AoEs to dodge or whatever.

It feels way too overtuned for leveling. It’s very boring spending 5 minutes wailing on a quest mob.

I haven’t hit max level and geared out yet, so I am assuming it is scaled for people who have their overpowered characters already. But they introduce it to you at like level 40 and I gotta say it is not a good introduction.

I want to like it. In theory I do like it. But health pools are way too inflated without remix scaling, and I hope that when they eventually do something like this in retail, they don’t blow everything HP up 10x and call it good.

I really love the idea of a more challenging and rewarding experience when out in the world, but i feel like the only people i see are tanks, my little Remix mage gets smashed all over the place and tanks are just cruising around mass pulling stuff, getting their quests done quick and then leaving… all while I’m killing things super slow one at a time lol

I feel like it’s a little too easy for tanks and too rough on others, unsure how that would be resolved.
