I want to adress first many people in the comment section suggesting weekly boxes. Just because you where lucky to get upgrades not everyone is. I opened 4 boxes, and out of those 4 nothing was upgrade. They gave me pieces that are higher ilvl. Even delves boxes that you open with a key.

As of now you can buy 3 pieces of gear that are guaranteed at certain renown level which is fairly easy to obtain. And if you say its hard then idk man, I was considering my self laziest person in the game who doe bare minimum on character progress, and i managed to get them.
But again you can buy 3 pieces of gear to start you up. Work on normal dungeons and sadly use those scarce valorstones to upgrade the normal gear just so you can enter HC or LFR. From there rinse and repeat. Run HC and LFR , hope to have enough valorstones to upgrade to Normal raid Ilvl or mythic +2 and +3 and again rinse and repeat. Its the current design of the game and you will have to roll with it if you wanna have higher ilvl. Delves that start to gvie decent gear are locked behind high ilvl
None of the ways to get 567 gear are farmable. You run out of coffers, you run out of delve keys, you run out of WQs. At that point, you have nothing to do but wait until these options become available again.
So it’s not “play more”, it’s “wait more” because Blizzard thought it would be a good idea to time gate freaking heroic dungeons.
