Hero Talents shouldn’t overlap with Spec Fantasy

We absolutely can. See how we did so above?

sounds dwarf related

Yeah and its very dumb. Unless you know all the data you basically are saying you don’t like carrots without ever taking a bite. My toddler used to do that to.

Slayer sounds boring. Blademaster appeals to me. That’s precisely what they’re asking to hear so they can pivot before they’re too invested to change. Nothing about that feedback would change if they released the mechanical details.

They explicitly asked for early feedback so they have the ability to pivot while there is still time to do so. They want to know what hero classes we think they are missing. That’s feedback we can give right now without having to wait for them to complete everything. I think they are missing Shadow Hunters. I promise I will still think that even after they show me what their finished versions of “Totemic” and “Stormbringer.”

If they are going to pivot, it’s best to pivot early. Just watch Lego Masters and see. The judges often drop in to give feedback before seeing the completed builds, because they don’t want the contestants to waste precious time committing to something that’s not going to work.

i would just change Mountain Thane for Mountain King, yes you are no King, but we get it.

As for Blademaster… i have repeated it till oblivion and will repeat it ever after.

Blademaster is not a warrior. He was an agility based warcraft 3 hero, squishy as hell, that used stealth and mirror images. Just because Bladestorm is shared doesnt mean anything.

On its face, I agree. If not it’s own class, it makes most sense as a Monk or even Rogue spec. But if that’s not going to happen - and it most likely will not - this is as close as we’re ever going to get it. And with that in mind, given how WoW classes currently operate, it makes most sense as an option for Arms and secondarily Fury as the two specs that actually focus on martial ability with two-handed weapons.

So is this something like glyphs used to be?
Is this “borrowed power” kind of thing?

I wonder if they went with Thane because it’s a more gender neutral word than king. Like, would a female warrior be a mountain queen? What about non-binary players?

It’s essentially a supercharged choice node talent with a few minor choices therein. Just more talents. No new systems.

They also emphasized wanting to add more evergreen systems into the game, which is absolutely not what borrowed powers are.

It’ll be interesting to see where it goes from here, though. They sort of designed themselves into a corner. Do they add more hero talent trees to choose from? Do they add another quaternary tree on top of the primary, secondary, and now tertiary ones?

I think that would be accurate, in tandem with Mountain King perhaps implying a more fully-fledged experience. “Thane” is a little more muted and less grandiose. And maybe even a little less integrally cultural Dwarven, even if that’s the inspiration.

…its a NAME…rofl.

Its literally based on lightforged draenei, their smiths are called Lightsmiths, cause they smith the Light into thing, my guess is that it will be prot/holy, templar will be prot/ret, and herald of the sun will be holy/ret.

Slayer makes no sense for warriors. Slayer is literally the rank/title of the dh player in legion. As far as the 2 options for dh… arent all dh “fell scarred” and what even is the other one? Dh is about using your enemies power against them. Wouldent Void scarred make much more sense right now? How about “seething inferno” that plays around buffing the strength and size of immol aura? Illidari Commander with a wingman NPC that stays close and mimics your attacks and felhammer fire support?

The name is just that. The name.

Its not a subclass. Its not going to have the effect you think it is.

Interesting! Honestly, I haven’t really done any deep dives in post-WCIII lore outside of what the usual exposure of playing the game while reading text would give me.

That Army of Light connection is solid. I do think there’s room for a Tyr-based hero talent tree, though. Maybe just not replacing Lightsmith.

The name is the effect for a lot of players. The numbers-driven players aren’t the only people playing.

I dont think the “people looking only at your talent screen” encompasses a lot of players either, but man, ask for whatever you want. I dont expect this to be referenced anywhere but specifically on your talent screen.

As long as yall realize it will have no effect anywhere in game. At that point you can probably just get an add on to change that text to whatever you want. Changing the name isnt going to change the design options of the hero talents.

I just feel like people are reading way too much into the names and what the name’s impact will be.
