Here's a Secret: Nobody Likes the Maw Intro:

I’m at around 20 level 50s waiting for the skip. They are reduced to mount farmers in old lands.

Mount farming is a noble activity. I got the void talon 2 weeks ago and Son of Galleon’s Saddle last week.

Yeah, Blizzard has me pretty close to calling them a bunch of donkeys and leaving.

Especially having to rescue Baine every time.

I try to speed run it. I mute the sounds because it’s annoying hearing that rp all the time, especially since you can’t skip the Jaina RP! I just try turning it into a speed run since it gives good experience.

The intro is terrible. It’s just an hour of pointless pve, while running around with Thrall and Jaina as they simper about how awesome you are.

The writing feels like a bad fanfic.

What gets me is there is no skip for the maw intro yet we can skip all the Korthia stuff including beating the jailers eye.

If its a secret, how do you know nobody likes it?

To be fair, I don’t like most of Shadowlands leveling. When the next expac comes out, I hope I can play a different expansion to 60 with Chromie time, and then do whatever that expansion is.

The maw intro would also be better if mounting there was account wide. It reminds me of the Tanaan Jungle intro to WoD, except I can skip that if I choose. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a secret only to those who don’t know it. Like the devs.

So much this.

The Maw in general is perhaps my least favorite zone from the entirety of WoW.

It takes like 25 minutes and it gives you an entire level…

There’s no excuse for it. Sticking to their guns on, “NO MAW SKIP!!!” is a flagrant disregard for the value of our time and entertainment, and if it’s a technical issue, then why? Why when every other obnoxious, prolonged, “mandatory” sequence has the option was this built in such a backasswards way as to not allow it?

Narratively? … by the second time, the “impact” of it is dead, nevermind beyond that. The very first time is one thing, and a mandatory “at least once per account” is perfectly alright, but perpetually forcing people through that dismal hell sequence? … It doesn’t make me think, “wow, I hate this Jailer guy!” It makes me think, “wow, what’s wrong with the developers!?”

Whatever paltry blip of a boost in play-time making the Maw-intro “mandatory” gives is 100% NOT worth the damage it does when it comes to leveling alts. There’s not even a self-serving, metrics based motivation for it.

It’s a dumb decision there is no justification for.

I like to think that Enhancement shamans from Legion are just whistling to themselves as they subtly stuff the haft of the Doomhammer deeper into their backpack.

From my experience the intro quest series to Korthia is also a “required task” for each character, just like the Maw intro. If you want an alt to ride in the Maw and get rid of the Eye, you have to do all the things.

There’s been a longstanding self-contradiction where QoL meets conventional design. I just call it a fun tax. They can’t articulate why you need to suffer through X to achieve Y, but dammit, you will do X to achieve Y.

no you don’t you can talk to Bolvar and skip all that. I did that with my warlock alt Saturday.

Man, I’m a masochist, and even that is too much.

I took 7 through the maw intro, while my other 20 will collect dust until there is a skip.

FWIW - You can be on Chapter 1 of your covenant @ 60, and Bolvar will let you skip everything and jump straight into Korthia. But you can’t skip the maw intro for whatever dumb reasoning.
