Help with questing please

This is the 3rd forum post on the same issue.
I guess I just don’t know where to ask my question that is monitored by anyone who knows the answer. I posted in bug and quest forums, now here.

I posted this in the questing forum, but so far nobody has answered my question, and this is getting frustrating.

“I am currently 103 on my DH, and on Azsuna, Kadgar gives me a quest called “Into the fray”. I accept the quest, and am supposed to speak with the lead demon hunter on illidari stand, just a few yards away. The yellow question mark is there, but the npc I’m supposed to speak with is not.
I have searched wowhead, and saw a video of this npc, which is supposed to be standing right next to Kadgar. I have reloaded my UI, restarted my computer, dropped and re-taken the quest itself, but no luck getting this NPC to show up.
What have I missed? I have no other quests in my log other than dungeon quests for Vault of the Wardens, which doesn’t even show up in specific dungeon opportunities in the group finder. Am I being forced to run an instance I can’t even get into, in order to progress this DH”?

Now, I’m finding that I can’t get to my order hall for legion on this same DH. Other Dh
's are phasing in and out of the portal that takes them to the order hall, but there’s nothing on the island next to Dalaran that works for me.
I have read some of the “help” (a misnomer) that tells me phasing problems like this, in legion, can be solved by speaking to an NPC in Stormwind (Broken shore quest chain not being completed) and THAT NPC isn’t visable to me.

I NOW have 2 quests that I can not complete, (Into The Fray, Pressing The Assault) AND I can’t travel to my order hall.
On top of all this, I can’t even open a ticket if I’m truthful about the problem, because all I get with your craptastic system is further questions trying to narrow down my problem, and no option opens up to even get a ticket started.

Would someone kindly see their way to helping out? I understand it’s most likely something I haven’t done, but I’ve tried everything I can to find out with no luck.
Thanks.

This one is just a reporting forum-- if anyone monitoring that forum is reaching out to you, it’s only for more information to assist in trying to reproduce an issue. Quests is definitely the slugger, and this may still get moved there if/when an SFA pops in during a periodic check.

And what about a complete reset? If an addon is to blame and has done some serious damage, doing a simple /reload or disabling your addons isn’t going to reverse the damage already done.

Follow these steps to see if that helps, and if not, let us know and we can progress further. While it genuinely sounds like a phasing issue, it could technically be anything.

Yes, because the ticket system has been streamlined to be vastly superior to what it’s been in the past-- the questions ensure that you’re looking for help with something that a GM has been permitted to assist with. As this could technically fall under the category of game hints, they’re expressly forbidden to do so.

You actually can, Moonstriken, and it should be fairly straight forward. I’m sorry if you didn’t find it so.

You click on the Support option in the upper right corner of this page, then Contact Support > World of Warcraft > In-Game Issues (problems with characters, quests, or items) > Quests and achievements. The top option when you go there is “Stuck on Quest”.

With that said, it sounds like another quest may be phasing that area out for you. I’ll see what I can find out, but I’ll need you to stay off the character for a little while. You can play your other characters while I look into it.

I thank you for taking the time to answer me, but I have done absolutely everything on my end to fix this. It is not an addon problem.

If the ticket system has been streamlined to be vastly superior, they could have fooled me. I’ve had to very infrequently open a ticket a time or two in the 14 years I’ve been playing this game. I have never, ever had any trouble with it until now. When you try to “narrow down” the problem, you can’t possibly narrow it down to every specific issue one can have. In order to open a ticket about this issue, I would have had to lie on the questions and describe my issue as something it was not, in order to proceed further and do it.
I’m no computer savvy genius, but a simple question such as “do you see your problem listed here”?, would have been ALL it would take , along with then, the opportunity to get my question answered. This problem started on Saturday AM last week, and here it is full 3 days later with you being the only person to even acknowledge my existence…3 different forum posts later.
With all due respect, that’s not vastly superior in my book.

Thank you. The character is Tualamea on Lightbringer. I haven’t played her much, and I am not currently, because of this issue.
And just so you know, I was trying to open the ticket in game and no, I sure didn’t find it straightforward. I just wasn’t going to lie about what was wrong, in order to complete the system of checks and balances for it to give me the option.
Thank you for your time and effort to help me out.

Unfortunately, I cannot comment on how other players choose to devote their time when they visit here. That is entirely their prerogative with no obligation other than goodwill. Personally, I don’t usually venture out of the CS forums, but if I do, it’s simply to peruse the bug reports and general discussion forums with minimal to no interaction.

But as to the rest of your post, you’re going in with the mindset that a GM is there to assist with every specific issue that crops up in the game. As I mentioned, that is very far from the reality, and they can only assist with things that the developers have given them permission to do so-- they are able to help with the things that there are options to choose from. If you have to struggle to fit it in somewhere, the odds are extremely high that they won’t be able to help.

That’s fine sir. I’m not going to argue with you over how much time they spend in their goodwill, or taking care of player problems. All I know is in 14 years, the few problems I’ve had, I had no trouble ever getting resolved quickly and efficiently.
Thank you for your time. As you can see, it looks like Vrakthris wandered this way and agreed to lend a hand. Have a good afternoon.

You don’t need to lie, the same options I provided here can be done while submitting the ticket in-game. It is intended to be a fairly logical path. I’m not certain why you did not see it. That is certainly something we’d want to improve upon.

Quick question, it doesn’t look like you have started any of the quests for your Artifact Weapon or to open your class hall. Have you used the Dalaran Hearthstone and visited that area? An NPC should have run up to you within a few minutes of getting there. I’m going to test that now, but my guess is that has something to do with the current issue.

No sir. She’s been in Dalaran many times, I have a hearthstone there, and no NPC has run up to me to give me a quest. I’d have surely seen that, as I ran around in the inn there for awhile trying to decide if I was going to take some cooking quests from Nomi the cook. I’ve also traveled in Dal a lot, several times, trying to see if I missed anything, and also spent a good deal of time on the island I’m supposed to access my order hall. I also get my mail and do most of my business there, as I don’t like Stormwind as well…although I’ve searched around there as well, looking for some NPC that I read might have given me something over by the harbor.

**I am quite sure this is something I’ve missed. This character is one I just recently starting playing again after creating her a few years ago, so, it won’t surprise me at all if it’s just something I missed, deleted, or something like that.

You logged out just as I sent you a whisper.

So, quick question. When you were questing in the starting area for your Demon Hunter you had to choose between Kayn and Altruis. Do you recall who you selected?

Sure don’t. I created this character several years ago, or back when Legion came out. When I picked her back up again, I don’t recall being asked anything.
As a matter of fact, I have no clue what Kayn and Altruis even are. I’d have to search icy or some other Warcraft website, just to know which of the two I should go for.

Not really, they’re just flavor. Questing otherwise remains the same.

I believe it’s one of two NPCs you pick from to go along with to break out of the place.

Yeah, this doesn’t surprise me. I got out of the starting area, I believe, and then didn’t play her for years so…maybe something dropped off during that timespan, or my old brain can’t remember, (CRS is real, lol) but I don’t remember what I took or even what I was offered, back that far. I’m doing good if I remember what I had for dinner last night.

Here is the cinematic from that quest:

You are given the following screen to make your decision:

Just let me know which one you want to select.

Kayn, I suppose.
And thank you for this.

Alright, you should be set. Kayn wasn’t showing up because your character didn’t have a few key quests completed from the Demon Hunter starting area. Not sure how that happened, but it should be fixed now.

You also should have an NPC run up to you in Dalaran to start your Demon Hunter Artifact Weapon/Class Hall quests.

Thank you Vrakthris. Things seem to be working just fine now. The NPC you spoke of was there and I accepted the quest she offered and others.
Now, If I could have only been smart enough to realize the Violet Hold quest was a dungeon, and not a Scenario like I thought, I wouldn’t have to waste my gold repairing all my broken gear,

When my new DH did the Violet Hold quest it was a scenario type quest. Only had to kill one boss then come out of the hold. No other dungeon clutter was in the scenario.

Yep, it still is. I made the mistake of not talking to the right NPC, and started the dungeon instead. I looked things over again and did it the right way, and completed it no problem. It was just confusing, because I was offered the dungeon quest right about the same time, so mixed up on my way go… :stuck_out_tongue:
