Help with a Predator X34 build

I’ve never built a computer before so I’m a bit unsure of what I will need. I’m looking at getting a Predator X34. I’ll be using it for two things.

Web Design - The X34 running VSC, GIMP (usually lower end stuff), and youtube. Paired with an older 22" monitor (uses an HDMI cord not sure if that relevant for the case or motherboard) were I will be running my project in several browsers with live server.

WoW - I would like to be able to play the rest of the expansion at max settings and get high FPS while questing and reasonable FPS while raiding and doing BG’s.

What I’ve come up with so far.

Video Card: When it comes to the GPU I have no idea I was looking in the $350 range but it looks like I may need something in the $500 range at the very least to play at max settings. I know I want to take advantage of the g-sync so it has to be an Nvidia card. I was playing around with UserBenchmark but even when I find a card, say the GTX 1070-ti when I search for it on new egg it gives me a ton of cards with a huge price range. I’m also a bit confused as to why you would need to pair a $500 GPU with a $400 CPU when the bottle neck in wow is supposed to be the CPU.

CPU Cooler: I was originally going to get the be quiet! 200W TDP Dark Rock 4 CPU Cooler with Silent Wings - High Performance - 135mm. But from reviews I’ve found it seems to block access to some ram slots (I went with a single 16 so I can upgrade later to 32 while only using 2 slots) I was also looking into water cooling but I’m not sure I want to risk a leak.

Case: I saved this for last. I’m not sure if I need mid size or a full tower. I might need room for another hard drive later on. I would like some green led’s to match everything else. I as thinking maybe a solid black with LED fans in front and a solid side that I could cut out a silhouette.

I also don’t know about other things I will need to assemble everything. Like ties to keep everything organized and thermal compound so any help with that would also be appreciated

I would get a motherboard that isn’t $300 and discontinued.

Not to mention it is incompatible with the chosen processor. Get a z370 or z390 board for 8th gen compatibility.

putting it another way - you should be putting all of this into pcpartpicker to make sure everything is compatible. it can also help you find better prices and availability.

Yeah that was an older list from another tab.

Here is the list that is compatible.

Is there a better GPU in that price range? And I just picked a case at random still not sure about that.

i’d just get an rtx 2080. it’s maybe $150-250 more than the 1070 ti, depending, but we’re already north of 3k, so i’m not sure if that’s gonna really matter. you can trim cost in some spots if necessary. evga 750 watt gold+ power supply is $60 at outletpc, for example. can get a cheaper mb and ssd too if needed.

I would encourage not to buy the Razer keyboard or the razer mouse. They are flipping JUNK, something similar you can get and better made from Corsair or Logitech.

It’s a roll of the dice regarding any item. My Logitech G502 got a double click issue so I got it replaced but in the meantime I picked up a Corsair M65 pro which also got that dble click issue (later then sooner like the G502) which the replacement also got. Currently using the G502 replacement and so far no issues.

A guildie loved his logitech till it died and got Corsair MMO mouse which broke a few times (mouse wheel pin is cheap) but he loves his Corsair keyboard and some Amazon MMO mouse he picked up for cheap.

For OP pick up a RTX 2060 ($350+ and free game), itll be cheaper and runs just as good as the 1070ti or get the 2080 ($690+ and free game) if you want to spend the extra $$. You can also get a lower card like a RX570 or RX580 ($140+/$180+ and 2 free games) which will also be great for WoW. Newegg.com prices.
