I’ve been playing DK since WotlK that is the class that I always enjoyed playing, but after a month playing in BFA I cant do DPS, I have seen many ppl with less gear than me doing way more DPS.
I’ve looked on Icy-Veins guides, Wowhead guides and RaiderIO best DK’s in the world. But doesn’t matter what I do or try I cant get my single-target DPS above 40k even when RaidBots says my gear is arround 53k DPS.
If someone know what I might be doing wrong, please say something cause Im about to give up in this class for now…
What settings are you using for your raidbots SIM? It’s important that you compare correctly.

I use the TopGear option and select the items I want to compare with the following settings:
• Corruption at 39
• Weapons Enchantments (Razorice and Fallen Crusader
• Rings and Gems with Crit and Haste
I dont select the Contaminants cause I dont have enough Echoes to buy them anyway.
Theres anything else I should change?
If you want I can post my SimCraft Text here.
To clarify, how do you get the 40k number?
What I meant with 40K is that I do less DPS than that with my current gear (arround 36K) and I cant do more than 40K DPS in a single target boss fight in game. The 53k DPS thing is what RaidBots says my gear is capable of in a single target fight.
I’d make sure to sim a realistic situation, and then test in that situation to make sure you’re not doing anything wrong. Use the “Target Dummy” fight style and then go hit a dummy for the same length of time. If you get significantly less damage, you are doing something wrong in your rotation.
With the Target Dummy setting my DPS in raidbots lowered to 42K, and in game I do ~45k in the Target Dummy. But still its lower than most of other classes with less gear than me. I dont understand how Blizzard let this “balance” get released, they F***** the DK’s in BFA.
dont expect your numbers to be the same as your sim numbers, sim numbers wont account for you having to move and actually do mechanics, or hold a cd because you know somehting is coming, mechanics dont exist in sims, and lag isnt a factor in sims either… As for frost dks, in dungeons they are among the top dps, for now atleast
I wasnt complaining specifically about RaidBots and their Sim number, but the DK overall DPS.
They could just have better corruptions than you
Alright, where to start, so to say DK DPS overall is bad, is a false and inaccurate statement, also saying sim don’t reflect reality is true in certain scenario, but let’s dive into some more issues.
You’re playing icecap which is a heavy heavy borrowed power talent. You need a lot more statting and corruption to make this work, your Azerite isn’t bad overall, but it’s not good.
Secondly, your trinkets are god awful, you need to look at a vita or a dragon scale even a butcher’s block, that void shard is oof.
Talents look fine, but again if you’re not consistently rolling pillars it’s gonna feel really really bad, you’re playing with 1 fwi so, you’d basically wait till 1 second left on your pillar cd and pillar again into it to roll your whelps. It all comes down to play and gear, but simming and dummy Dps do not equate eachother, there’s a lot of work to do to your character to start seeing real damage.

Thanks Vinnie, was hoping for a comment like that
Yes theres a 6~9 seconds downtime in my Pillars
Should I use BoS instead for now? While I improve those aspects?
I looked at your character, you are full on mastery. Its for the BoS build right?
And Icecap should use Crit and Haste at ~50%?
There’s pros and cons to both specs, breath to be “high end competitive” just flat out requires a Font, but yes I prefer Breath gameplay compared to that of icecap.
Icecap is going to get worse, not completely dead in prepatch as well, but definitely harder to play without corruption.
Where as Breath will still likely be strong even with the loss of corruption, but in a pure ST scenario of like 5 minutes Icecap should win, but any lower and Breath wins. Now in SL beta in its current iteration, you can look to play either Breath or Obliteration.
As for retail, play whatever you want for the time being and focus on just refining play and getting more gear.
Concerning the stats you listed FDK is a stat fluid class/spec, essentially there is no bad stat for us, but the more haste and crit you have for icecap the better and for breath mastery.
