There were always intense no lifers who played mmorpgs but they were so few that they generally didn’t have a huge impact on the design of the game.
The rise of the professional class of players changed that. Nowadays, the pros now have their social media megaphones. The devs have to design the game for the needs of the professional players who would otherwise ‘win’ the game in a matter of weeks. And because dev resources aren’t unlimited, what the devs design specifically for the professional class of players comes at the expense of more casual players who don’t/can’t spend the tens of hours every week in game or have no interest to do so.
You said that casual content is consumed immediately and then casuals want more. That would suggest that casuals don’t repeat it.
I’ve actually never heard casuals asking for more casual content after they’ve done it once, but I’ve heard a huge number of requests from elites who do seem to want constant injection of content for them to do once or a few times but not as much as I did world quests.
So is this why they made wq into two part quests? It sure feels like it.
Disagree. I think casual players would be fine with earning rewards provided by content they want to do, even if it requires time and effort, even if it isn’t as good as raid gear.
Casual =/= lazy, despite what some folks think.
Sorry I’m late. pulls up a chair
Nobody is saying make it anti casual, people are saying that skill and effort should always have the better rewards.
Casual play gears players up to near raid ilvl for very little effort, and is honestly a great Segway for them to move into the more difficult content.
However the issue I’ve been seeing with the arguments is that casual players refuse to take that next step to progress
Blizz isn’t going to anger the casuals unless they want to lose the vast majority of their playerbase.
You get 197 gear from covenants. M0 is doable at like 170ilvl. You don’t even need a key to do M0, just start your own party in LFG.
The covenant gear and world quest items are enough to get you to a high enough ilvl for M10 if you already know the dungeons. Catch up gearing is extremely easy right now.
Dog, you gotta read. If they had to do things like farm anima to buy consumables that would be annoying and time consuming. Instead anima really just gets you cosmetics. They are not afraid of the casuals being competitive with them, they just don’t want every avenue of this game needing to be done.
This is interesting the big bad raiders don’t want to do the low life work of a casual but still be the big dude on the block ,well i guess that how it works in every facet of mans reality. Bark, bark.
Except most raiders are not only raiding, but also doing M+ and all the same WQs the solo player are doing.
So are the hardcores doing them consistently every day plus doing their professions and navigating the rejections from dungeons and raids? I don’t think so. You see the casual goes through the same work due to other reasons like disabilities,as a raider do and deals with the same problems but get scoured for wanting not the top notch gear but gear that would carry them through the day.
Remember they are hardcore which is different than the casual raider these guys don’t do the casual stuff they have others doing it for them they don’t have the time in the world to stop the gungho.
lol, how long do you think it takes to do those things? I get all the daily solo content done in about hour.
Also professions? How long do you think that takes? Because unless you’re trying to make ludicrous amount of money selling mats on the AH, a single trip around any zone once a day will make you more than enough money over a week to pay for all the mats you’ll personally need for raid plus extra.
You already have access to gear that will get all your daily WQs done with ease. What you get scoured for is wanting to continue to progress to mythic raid quality gear for only doing WQs.
this is wrong.
Casuals do not want free easy gear, they want better and more options to play solo, and before you mmo me, i mean things that make playing with groups easier. Like sitting in the group finder refreshing it over and over again applying for groups only to have them time out because there are so many applicants its a literal lucky dip to get a group. Simple changes like adding M0-+4 to the group queue tool.
Casual doesnt mean easy it never did, it means casual, time limited, get in, suck it up with whatever terrible group you get, then log off. Rather than spending an hour applying to groups, jump in a queue do some house work until it pops.
Stop implying casual means bad, i consider myself a casual now, but there was a time this was like a job to me, i dont want to play 8-16 hours a day again, i wanna clear some quick content in my down time then rock up to my raid.
the problem is that one side mistakes “casuals” for parasites and the other side mistakes “hardcore” with “no-lifers”

No, as a casual raider I don’t spent 10+ hours raiding, I do not farm M+ for all vault slots, I do not farm rated PvP for vault slots, I do not farm stygia for sockets, I do not keep on my renown grind, I do not farm conduits, I do not make sure all my gear has the best enchants, food, etc every pull.
I can keep going, a hardcore player puts in over 5x the work I do in this game and would never go ‘well they should also have to do daily quests every day just cause’.
One trip to a zone for gold to pay for stuff you can farm. Hard core casual would do it like this herb 200+ herbs in all zones make flasks and pots from these. set them up in bank no need for buying them.
And that is a bad attitude by them when they should be more concern about themselves.
No, the bad attitude is thinking that someone who only does WQs deserves to have mythic raid quality gear.
There is a path to having that level of gear. Everyone has access to it. If you want it, go get it. If all you want to do is WQs, then live with your 197 gear which will get you through all the WQs with ease.
Well, you just proved that hardcore doesn’t do the same as a casual ,they work more they put as much effort in game as any person just a different form.
