Man, just take a break. I will not sit here and convince you to play a video game like it’s a necessity. It is a game meant to be fun. If it isn’t fun, do not play it. Come back when it looks fun and there’s something for you to get out of it. It’s not that deep.
WoW has classes that feel sufficiently unique to WoW compared to other games, such as druid if you havent try it
The warband system also allow for some rewarding experience in being proficient at different classes. If you have hunter as your mail class, perhaps you want to create alts for the plate, cloth, leather classes that can also be on different factions. Classes suggestions are druid, warrior, priest
I would try leveling a new character entirely through questing. Maybe something you normally wouldn’t play. It gets you back out into the world you fell in love with in the first place while also providing you with a new experience.
My general rule: Do what’s fun, don’t do what’s not fun.
But judging by your 44k achievement points, you probably have some completionist urges? Once that’s become part of one’s goals, it’s not easy to let go of. But one of the dangers of there being more content, more niche content and limited time events is that eventually some things just won’t be fun.
I don’t feel I’m in a position to give much advice on how to deal with it, but I can (in my own limited niches) relate too to the struggle. My own approach has been to just draw a line and say “the way I used to play is not the way I will play going forward” … and then promptly fall back into my old routines and goals.
I’d definitely suggest trying out some new classes, leveling new alts if you like, or trying out new specs. Even if I don’t intend to main a spec, when I play a character I like to be able to play all of their specs, even if it’s just for soloing and fun. I also feel like BM has lost its sort of ‘big tanky pet with lots of aggro’ feel from Classic and is now just kind of another DPS spec, so that’s kind of sad. I still haven’t done much of this expansion’s content, but I’m having a lot of fun leveling a new Paladin
i find myself enagaging less and less each expansion. They changed professions in DF and now I dont even pick them up for new expansions its a mess. Only thing that would help is possibly new leadership on the dev team. Someone not involved in esports mentality but that just would like fun. They is no reason to push everyone into harder content for rewards. the folks into mplus 20’s will still do it.
