I feel like I’m pretty good. I always do the objectives. I have a strict 2 loss in a row and log out on that character for the day but that seems to kneecap me because I don’t get enough rounds in.
The best rating I ever got was on my DH, 1996 twice. I know I can do better if I keep playing but everything I read says to log off after 2 losses in a row to save MMR.
Is the key to keep playing? More often then not it seems like it’s just luck.
What things can I do to win more without pairing up with another player.
I agree that log out after two consecutive losses can protect your win rate, but I’ve found it’s actually counterproductive for rating push (I could be wrong, thou).
I used to have two characters of the exact same class and spec (hunters, rets, demon hunters). The primary character: I log out after a losing streak. The burner char: keep queuing no matter what, win or lose.
To my surprise, every single season, the burner char reached a much higher rating than the primary one. A high win rate gives you a great MMR, but if you don’t put in the volume, you never actually cash it out. It’s not good to end the season with an MMR that’s miles ahead of your CR simply because you didn’t queue enough games.
I went 0-3 on my Warlock last night… decided to queue a 4th out of frustration.
1-3.
You’re going to have nights when you question whether or not you are playing with actual human beings. The key is to enjoy playing Blitz. I find it to be the most fun mode in the game.
It has been stated that stopping for a hour or two after 2+ loss streak can help your cr and mmr in the long run. The main things to remember is that no matter what cr and mmr you are playing at that it is just a game as well.
You have to keep queing to continue to climb, there is no way around that. It can be easier at times and it can be difficult at times depending on variables you cannot control like team comp and map selection.
Using the ping system and calling out where the enemy FC is can make and break games.
this dude…paid someone to play his warlock. doesnt have the skill for rated. no one’s ever seen him on anything but his druid…but he’s 2500mmr on a lock
Most of blitz is just finding your positions for your specs role and focusing on those and avoiding the noise
Alternatively do what most people do and get a coattail from a higher mmr pres because then you can do the exact same thing and still win games but 1300 mmr higher
I want to play my main Arms Warrior but I have a negative record. My Ret is almost 1700 with a better MMR around 1950 and a winning record of like 10 - 8.
Bro that’s the formula. Just be patient and keep doing that the season is long. I got 2400 last season on my warlock doing that exact thing. Just log out for the night after 2-3 losses and play another game. If you get a winstreak keep going until you lose. Learn to play objectives and what your class does in each bg.
Most loss games were either afkers, people who gave up after the first skirmish, 1 healer vrs their 2, OR my favorite the game getting started that was down a player. Never have I ever been on a team where the opposite team was short a man.
Yes yes, people will sit here to say that I suck, or that I need to play better. Bliz is highly highly luck based after that many games played. In the end, I hit 1810 and have zero interest in PVPing every again not that I obtained the one transmog I have been wanting since vanilla.
My takeaway advise
No, it isnt directly your fault if you are participating. One person cannot carry an entire game themselves. A loss is the entire teams fualt, unless you have someone not participating in the match at all (AFKer) or it starts and ends with one man down. I have not won a match where there was an afker or the match was down a man, not one in those 467 games.
Use your cooldowns and your defensives as much as you can
DO NOT worry about damage or even kills. Concentrate on objectives. Most games I went through, we had at least 2 people sitting in the middle fighting constantly and doing nothing to help win the match. The Orb match, and Capture the flag are Notorious for this. Agian, not your fault if you have two idiots not participating in how the match is won
I have two other family members. I dont normally PVP and I started noticing the trend of luck early on.
So I started an experiment to see if its my playing, or if it could be luck based. Each of my sons also made fury warriors and started later then I did by a few weeks. They are climbing the ladder as well but its been as slow as mine has. They get 1-2 wins and then sit on a losing strak of beteen 7-15. One son managed a 25 losing streak like I did. They are running the exact same spec, armor, and weapons. If three different people all playing the same class is having the exact same ladder/MMR issues and same win/loss ratio, I highly doubt its a lack of player ability. Remember this and dont let anyone tell you differently. Blitz is sadly too luck based.
Three different players, same spec, same armor, same weapons, all having a long grind of bad luck so it wasnt just me in this experiment. Am I amazing? No, am I average? I can go with that sure. I just beat Metz today so that was fun.
I’m going to test this out next week… I’m going to do nothing but Blitz - and see what happens. My Warlock hit a 5 game losing streak last night before winning… so I’m not doubting you.
My worst losing streak was 25 losses in a row over a 2 day period. Also understand I have been pvping non stop on my days off since the season started and this is my first time really seriously pvping.
My son managed to hit a 25 losing streak as well. My other son is on his 8th losing streak today. We dont take breaks, or stop. I wanted that armor, nothing more. I never took breaks over losing streaks. I just played until I got out of it.
I didnt dodge losing streak and I participated in every game I was in. I really dont think a game is one player playing badly causing a loss at this point. Its highly luck based IMHO. Blitz sucks.
Thanks for the input. I usually stop after 2 losses in a row and switch to another character to try and preserve my MMR but that also doesn’t give me enough playing time to climb. Instead of logging off for the entire day I’ll try to play again in an hour or 2. I’ve have a losing streak of 7 in a row before I started this new formula and it made it seem impossible to climb out.
