Yeah, you have run into the game’s worst aspect - the players. Not all of them, andnot all the time, but in a group of five, you’re likely to get one or two who are in a bad mood, and the others will more likely than not click Yes on the annoying box that pops up when somebody initiates a vote to kick someone. They probably won’t even notice who is being kicked.
Mostly, as a DPS in levelling content, people will leave you alone. A Tank gets a lot of attention, so a lot more criticism, but you should slip under the radar for the most part. Just
- avoid being separated from the group; as a melee, stay a couple steps behind the Tank
- avoid dying, especially by standing in bad stuff
- avoid pulling any mob the Tank hasn’t already pulled
Honestly, at that level, it really doesn’t matter much if one DPS does nothing.
If you announce at the start that you are new and learning, there’s a chance you will be kicked, but if you’re not, you should be OK for the rest of the run. If you don’t announce, but you keep up and don’t die, you’ll be fine 99% of the time.
I can’t stress enough how important it is that you KEEP UP. Most problems I have seen with inexperienced players happen because they fall behind, maybe doing some looting, or maybe looking around while the group is already running. As a new player,it is natural to want to look around at the scenery and the layout, but the other guys running with you have probably done that dungeon 100 times already - not on those level 82s, but on their main level 90 characters.
You did not make a mistake buying Midnight and progressing into it. People get more judgmental as you get to higher levels, no matter what you do.

Then practice what you have learned on target dummies and mobs in the world.
Choose a Follower Dungeon from your Dungeon Queue. Do the dungeon solo, with the NPCs helping you. This gives you a chance to learn the dungeons without pressure, and practice your rotation. You will find Follower Dungeons as a drop down option in your Looking for Dungeons box.
Learn The Dungeons
Running the dungeons as Follower Dungeons will teach you the layout, and where the mobs and bosses are. You can also read about the dungeons on Icy Veins

A large part of learning the dungeons is learning the mobs and the mechanics. One of your duties as a melee DPS is to INTERRUPT bosses and casters. Learn where they are, and what to interrupt.

So now you know how to handle yourself, and you know what’s important in the dungeon. You’re set!
