Helboars, how do these work?

What exactly are these things?

I read the wiki and it says that they’re boars that have been mutated by fel energies into demons. That implies that fel energy works like radiation… which makes sense with the fel reaver cores…

But then demon hunters consume fragments of demon souls and that seems to be different, like they risk replacing too much of their soul with demon soul fragments and become demons.

And then other people who are possessed by demons turn into demons (wow movie is canon)?

So… like, are the boars possessed by demons? Did they accidentally eat too much demon grass and replaced their soul with a demon soul? Or is just being around like… demon dirt enough to turn you into a demon? Does that mean that standing near a warlock’s pet will turn you into a demon over time?

Uhh… A wizard did it?

There’s a quest in Hellfire Peninsula about this.

There’s the CE and the goblin meat one, neither offer an explanation. In fact, the CE suggests that we don’t know what’s going on with them.

You’re putting way too much thought into this.

Helboar are spiny, mottled boars that burn with a reddish-orange flame. Helboar were once ordinary boars, now mutated by the earth-shattering magic of the Blasted Lands. The arcane fire that savaged the region was absorbed into native boars, turning them into savage, ferocious predators.

Helboars , also known as felboars and demonic boars , are spiny, mottled boars that burn with different coloured flames. It comes in a variety of looks, possibly related to the amount of exposure it has had to the demonic energies of the [Twisting Nether]. Helboar were once ordinary [boars], now mutated by demonic influence.

Seems legit. Long term exposure to any area saturated in a kind of energy can cause…interesting reactions. Look at Crystalsong Forest for example.

This is from the RPG, and is considered non-canon.

I also liked how the OP said they read the wiki, then you posted a non-canon entry from the wiki. That part was neat.

I think they work by superhero logic where standing near nuclear power gives some people super powers and everyone else cancer.

It definitely was NOT arcane fire.

Do you ever actually think before you type a response? What I linked is not non-canon. OP clearly didn’t do their own research either because the wiki answered their question.

It was arcane and fel, so better luck next time.

What you linked literally has this written above it:

Well, the first half anyways. The rest is just the wiki entry.

For what it’s worth OP, no the movie is super not canon.

So first 2 sentences.
Wiki: Helboar are spiny, mottled boars that burn with a reddish-orange flame. Helboar were once ordinary boars, now mutated by the earth-shattering magic of the Blasted Lands.

You: Helboar are spiny, mottled boars that burn with a reddish-orange flame. Helboar were once ordinary boars, now mutated by the earth-shattering magic of the Blasted Lands.

Also this part: " This section contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon. "

So now, this is the part that you hang you head in shame, then proclaim me Queen of the Lore you lazy lazy gnome.

That doesn’t mean anything when the actual contents of the passage are still canon. It’s still valid in game which is why I provided the other paragraph. If I link a part of the RPG saying that Elune is the Moon goddess that the Night Elves worship, that doesn’t mean it’s false because it’s still canon even though it’s in the RPG which is considered non-canon.

No, but you can also find “Elune is the moon goddess that the Night Elves worship” in Chronicles, which is canon. Chronicles don’t say anything about helboars.

Nothing more to add here. Bipzi seems to be handling it. That said, anyone want popcorn?

You just proved my point, good on you. The passage in the RPG for the Helboars is reiterated in quests from Hellfire Peninsula.

The ones that OP just said don’t say anything of the sort?

Honestly I don’t care about helboars, but it’s always hilarious watching you link WoWpedia to try and prove points when half that website is blatantly wrong.
