Or LARGE boosts to damage and healing, (and XP).
A lot of the suggestions I’ve seen would be far far too powerful to put on the heirlooms and there is just no way.
Maybe a slight run/mount speed increase that operates only in the open world. Flight master whistle, and my personal bias of converting to scalable enchants. Even a goblin glider on like an hour cd or something.
Rehashed experience bonuses nobody wants.
The boosts in damage will make leveling faster without giving an increase in experience gained. It’ll also give more incentive to buy and upgrade heirloom gear. Giving a HUGE increase in damage though seems extreme.
This is vague but how does enchanting heirlooms work now?
Same as any other gear except the item level caveat. You might have to send the enchant to a lower level character to get around the ilvl restrictions you’d run into on a higher level toon.
Similarly things like scopes and the leg kits and such require a character level 85 but can be sent to any other character on the account afterwards.
The stats on all of the enchants already scale with the heirloom piece as you level.
Do you have a crystal ball of how leveling is going to work or something? I know the “wait and see” is a bad idea for most Blizzard concepts. But it’s not that big of a deal, unless you spent actual REAL money on heirlooms which is sad and I’d be upset too. But they’ve been around 10+ years, and trivialized leveling content. If it were up to me I’d remove them entirely from the game a long time ago and refund players in-game gold for each item spent however much they were upgraded.
I had the luxury of using the Draenic coins when they were available to upgrade my heirlooms and I passively purchased the tokens with Timewarped badges and other such things. Never paid much gold on them as I hate leveling toons.
I understand the frustration though and I think Blizzard should give players the option to have a full refund for all of the heirlooms if they don’t like the new system.
I like the idea of the set bonuses.
I’m not wild about the set bonuses offered.
I still don’t think refunds should be an option given all the use people have gotten out of them.
I think the heirloom system needs a more thorough, complete overhaul.
The goal has never been to give players more options. The options are now different, and there are fewer of them. Lots of popular leveling options have been removed.
So will heirlooms still have to be upgraded than? And will Blizzard make Rings more readily available?
Yeah, all of these seem super underwhelming and super boring.
In most zones heirlooms fall between green quest gear and dungeon gear. Only in BfA content are they better than the best dungeon gear available.
Also, heirlooms used to give a choice of stats, so I bought all of them. During implementation of level scaling they gutted them so most are crit, haste, or crit-haste. Which sucks if you’re a tank not having versatility anymore. I would never have bought both stat sets if they had been identical.
They don’t want people to level up tanks is all I could think of. Having no versatility made tanking in low level instances painful.
I’m a little underwhelmed by the changes.
I was hoping for fireball procs and movement speed increases, double food/potion effects, double reputation gains.
That kinda thing.
Extending your rested XP is too similar to just having the bonus xp on each item.
That’s got to be a part of a bigger discussion on how levels are going to work going forward. Will SL move to a 10-50 option while WoW 10.0 becomes the 51-60 content? Do we go 61-70 with the new stuff?

That’s assuming that you get rested in the first place. It’s entirely useless for players that are leveling 1-50 in a single sitting.
(Disclaimer: There are those six(?) potions in Spires of Arak that give 5% rested each, though…)
I couldn’t agree more.
PSA
- Make your alts now, people.
- Log them in, and get to an inn.
- Log them out and leave them there.
- Do not touch them until Shadowlands!
How so?
Like, you’re getting a massive boost to your rate of XP gain, though obviously the rested XP is taking it in the pants but that was more for when you were coming back to a toon after an extended break then something that you relied on to level up.
Yeah, the bonuses seem fairly useless, and doesn’t take full advantage of the 11 heirlooms that you can equip.
(2) set should at least triple your rested XP gain and reduce how fast it is consumed by 60%.
(3) set should be a movement and mounted speed boost.
(4) set should either be significantly longer or be changed to a proc that can happen when attacking a mob.
(6) set should be something different, like a chance at gaining rested XP when you kill a mob.
(8) set could double the effectiveness of the (4) set bonus.
(11) set could increase the proc rate of the (6) set bonus.
IIRC there’s also a treasure like that in Shadowmoon Valley, though I feel your initial point about people leveling too fast to accrue rested EXP still very much stands. That’s one of my main issues with this proposed change, with the new faster speeds it seems likely that a lot more people will level to 50 all at once, really defeating the point.
This is typical MMO develpment speak. Offer up something completely useless as the great new feature knowing that the playerbase will hate it. Put in something incrementally better and then self praise for “listening” to the feedback.
