Good to know that I wasted a lot of gold upgrading my heirlooms over the years for such an amazing change to take place…
I’m going to have an heirloom tab that’s never clicked on again going forward.
Here’s a thought, if leveling is going to be faster thanks to the squish any way, who cares if people still want to go faster yet with heirlooms. It hurts no one. Well maybe you greedy tools because your token/boost market would probably suffer a big hit.

This is just one more step in the process of removing heirlooms entirely. It will happen. They need complete control over the player experience. They want you to be as excited as winning the lottery when you get a piece of bland, homogenized gear in that slot that’s been empty for 35 levels. They want you to have to quest for gear or get none whatever.
Gear progression in leveling zones makes zero sense. I completed one zone and got 3 chests and one legs. Another zone I got 3 pairs of boots in a row on related quests.
Realistically, what they needed to do was give more gear to players without heirlooms. But can you imagine the uproar? Giving gear to players who don’t deserve any? How dare they!

Barely. I’m just now alting and those things are 5000g each and then again for each type of gear (cloth, leather, mail, plate) so that’s near to 300,000 gold spent in a single expansion (based on what weapons and trinkets you use) only for them to be unusable in the next expansion. So if they’re going to massively nerf their usefulness, they better not make us pay for them again.

I don’t see myself ever leveling another alt again. I will just play what I have and when I’m a little bored I will just go play another game instead of leveling a alt.

Still for a company that wants us to play as long as possible they sure give us reasons to log and and play something else. So play for a while to use rested xp, log for 10 day to make heirlooms useful again and play FFXIV.

I’m more bothered by that you pick an expansion and go through that expansion to its end. Why not just keep it a free choice so that it enables players to freely swap from one expansion to another. Like… I know Wotlk’s Howling Fjord questline is fun, but it falls off pretty fast after Dragonblight. As much as a crapshute WoD was, it had a really good opening, some zones I prefer over others in different expansions.
If Blizzard allowed the player to pick a particular zone to level in every 10 levels. That’d be better imo. Have incentives if you complete all of the quests in the zone so that it’s not a bore for returning players.
As for the heirlooms themselves, I never really cared too much about the exp bonus since their inception. Players also have to realize instead of 120 levels to grind through now you have 59. If Blizzard’s aim is to have a more quality leveling experience, they don’t want you to blow through those levels.
50-60 is going to take a bit, but I know that if they kept the old system it would’ve been too fast. People are making mountains out of anthills once again.

Assuming it will stay that way. And they continue to ensure that the leveling experience wont bloat again. Been playing WoW and blizzard games and I’ll say I’m doubtful of this.
This… might be the most garbage thing I’ve seen Blizzard do. Like wow those bonuses are trash besides maybe the regen one. Even then that depends on how good it is.

As if there’s a “story” in leveling quests. Most story has either never been presented in the game, has been removed, or is locked behind instances levelers will never see.
That’s assuming the numbers in the alpha/beta are consistent. I fully expect them to double or triple the amount of XP required to level to max before the end of beta.
I mean, down the road it might be a problem sure, but i’m optimistic for the moment; being able to level where I want to is going to be so god damn liberating; never again will I have to slog through the god damn frost fire ridge questline with it’s insipidly long mandatory questline.

Please make Heirlooms as strong or stronger than purples if you’re going to go with this garbage set bonus instead of being as weak as greens right now.

On launch day, who wants to wait 10 days to store the max rested exp. I get about 3 levels per full bar of rest exp based on quests’ kill ratio. If I did this right, that’s 160 days to get to level 50 only using rested exp. If they’re going to do this, the bonus should grant you rested exp while you play so you don’t have to wait so long to play again with rest exp.
If I play a new character nonstop then I get no rest exp so the set bonus is useless cause I didn’t wait to store rested exp.
The health regen bonus doesn’t go into detail but it should get me back to full health within 10 seconds so I can reduce downtime because this is leveling gear.
For the hundreds of thousands of gold and time spent to unlock and upgrade the heirloom gear, this new set bonus is very disappointing and unexciting.

Based on what?
Like, the whole point of this change was to expand on what 7.3.5 did with giving players more control over where they quest and choose to level with choosing which era content you do being a major selling point of the levelling overhaul.
Lengthening it would serve to only irritate all players.
Obviously, since they took the effort to come up with something as a replacement for the XP bonuses, at least some designers at Blizzard agree with many players that have purchases (dozens) of heirloom pieces that there should be something given to players in place of the XP bonus.
However, it’s very obvious to many of us that they need to go back to the drawing board and try something a little different that is more in line with the XP bonus. Not necessarily something that will buff leveling speeds to the same degree, since that’s not really much of an issue going forward into Shadowlands, but something that improves player enjoyment during leveling—as opposed to “use up rested XP 30% faster”…which is only slightly useful and is basically along the lines of what they are supposed to be getting rid of with this.

So a few suggestions, a couple have already been said:
- A Flight master’s Whistle would be amazing for a lot of zones
- The original Legion Bear Tartare effect with a boosted duration, open world
- Instant/faster flight points
- Second hearthstone or hearthstone CD reduction
- Access to flying at level 10 (assuming you have any required achievements/training needed)
- Instant mount up out of combat
- Increased mount speed
- Weaker Bloodlust effect, active or frequent proc, open world
- Instant teleport to corpse when dead or rapid flight while dead in all expansions.
- Prydaz style shield, open world
- Multi-strike, from WoD, as a proc open world
- Add gem slots to all heirloom armor that fit any non-Shadowlands gems.
- Allow rested xp to be gained while logged in at a reduced rate.
- Allow 2 talents in select rows to be used
Several of these are game breaking powers however, I feel that anyone leveling alts just wants to get into the endgame asap. I would put “open world only” limits on many of these and have them stop working at level 50 or maybe 49 to minimize twinking problems.

Let’s add some new heirlooms:
Boots-run speed increase as high as 25%, many classes have 30% already.
Gloves-allow a 3rd gathering profession.
Belt-allows non-tailors to make bandages again.
Wrists-incoming ranged damage block–think Wonder Woman!
And put the XP back on the existing ones!

People paid a lot of gold, especially me who has upgraded heirlooms for each armor type. We paid for the choice to level faster.
It doesn’t matter that the level experience will fundamentally go quicker because of the squish. My choice to be able to speed through old content has been taken from me. Taken from me after I’ve paid to have that choice. After I’ve paid, each expansion, to keep on making that choice.
I choose to speed through all that content because I’ve done it on a dozen toons. And now the choice I paid for (a lot of gold) has been taken from me, and the tradeoff is not anywhere near being even.
Let us choose to speed through leveling if we so desire. Or, take the heirlooms away completely and refund us all our spent gold on them.

Rested exp doesn’t mean much unless you just park your character for a week. So the bonuses affecting it are basically useless time gating, once again. Set bonuses should give small boosts in damage, survivability, or healing.

This is false. The gear you get during expansion is to do higher and higher level content. Yes, it becomes essentially worthless after the start of the next tier/expansion.
The heirlooms are worse/equal to green gear. The only benefit would be not having to right click to equip a new piece. Sound worth 5k
